As a 'CCC' Card carrying colorist you would guess I am looking forward to summer's bright light and depth of colors, but through my recent studying of Winogrand's photos I am drawn back to my years of monochrome and have lined up a series of black and white images.
The sun stands still for no one, constantly changing shadows, lighting and the general atmosphere... You have little time to meditate and contemplate your subject... you must quickly decide your course of action, and with verve and emotion, capture the essence of your subject. ~ Sidney Hermel

I'd been taking so many bird shots trying out my new lens that I'd forgotten about the beach. I remedied that with a wonderful walk across the beach, looking for fossils in the freshly exposed rock layers , due to the loss of sand. The beach is so different it was like a voyage of exploration. The beautiful sand patterns caught my eye and I drifted off into another world, just
as obsessive as bird photography. Variations on Sinister is by frank Zappa.
Beautiful ancient oaks at Brocton Coppice, Cannock Chase Forest. Planted for King Henry VIII to hunt deer.... now making patterns in the sky.
I came across these lovely ice patterns on the bonnet of a car, it reminded me of the frozen windows we used to get in my childhood. I just added a bit of contrast and vibrancy to enhance the patterns.
This is a close-up B&W photo of patterns in a thin layer of ice that formed in shallow channels beside the river.
Taken on the Stratford HPAD flickr meet on Saturday, I've been struggling to upload the rest of the set (not that we tok many) but it was a really lovely - if damp - day.
