Many lessons can be gleaned from nature, the little green heron is so, so patient as it waits for a feeding opportunity
Patience, one of the New York Public Library's lions. Designed by Edward Clark Potter and carved by the Piccirilli Brothers.
The window faces northeast, away from winter sun. During the darkest time of the year, in November, the mini Phalaenopsis sends out its new flower stem. For months it reaches, buds, and waits. When the window becomes brighter in February, it begins to bloom. Slowly but reliably, it blooms and blooms and blooms. In late spring when a few moments of morning sunlight begin to fall directly on the little orchid, its newest flowers open toward the philandering sun. It does not need these moments of warmth and light, but visibly luxuriates in them each morning for a few weeks.

In a world shaped by motion, the lighthouse reminds us to hold fast. It watches patiently as the skies shift and the tide breathes in and out — always present, always guiding.

I wanted a good take-off shot, so I increased my aperture to get more of the bird in focus, I increased my shutter speed to freeze the wings, and I set up my autofocus for a take off shot. Then I waited and waited and waited. (I'm talking about 1.5 to 2 hours.)
Finally this male Peregrine took off and I was rewarded for my efforts.

It's a theme. The crew of this empty pellet train sits at Adolph waiting for a southbound to clear.
It also reminds me that I need to be more patient. With a cloudy weekend forecast, I went out last night to try and find something to chase north. The yard at Pokegema looked promising, so I waited at the Oliver bridge, And waited. And waited, some more. Every so often the switch engine would get a light. Finally I gave up and went to Proctor, where I got a couple shots of parked trains. Then I turned around and spotted the tail end of this guy. I knew a southbound was coming, turns out the dispatcher must have run this one out of the yard to wait at the end of the scale track. So I went and shot him, and the southbound arrived just as I was ready to leave. Luckily just the UP units on limestone empties. So I went home.

A long exposure of Vallø and the Oslofjord.
This is a blend of a normal exposed photo and long exposure.
More often than not, patience is a virtue that is needed to wait for something interesting to happen.
RKO_5283. You better don't wait too long.....
Understand this image somehow is/was not visible to my followers.....This happened several times before and FLICKR' response was that everything is fine..... With just 52 views in two whole days (with more than 2000 followers) is a bit concerning!

In about 3-4 months, this apple orchard will be in full bloom and perfume of blossoms will give you a sense of delight and happiness.

Coastal brown Bear waits patiently for a salmon to swim his way. This shot is a single exposure. This shot was a little challenging, because of the long exposure that was used to create the motion blur in the water. I had to time it just right so that the bear was sitting still for at least 1/10th of a second. Many shots were taken but only a few using this technique were keepers. Patience is power.
Patience is not an absence of action;
rather it is "timing"
it waits on the right time to act,
for the right principles
and in the right way
