Lit by a pair of 580EXes: one high and slightly to the right on an umbrella, another way off right gelled warm and powered way down, both triggered by an ST-E2. And, of course, the shutter is dragged way out (4 seconds) to pick up the blinky lights.

As part of the nine patch sew along craze, I was inspired to make a cute simple nine-patch quilt too! Here are pics of nine-patch quilts that I'm trying to emulate. I'm using my stash of gingham prints with white muslin to create a quilt something like these quilts with a plain white block between the nine patches. I love gingham so much and I think it'll turn out really cute! I have lots of ginham in different check sizes and materials so it'll be interesting.

I love these so much! They were a lot of fun to make, and it was my first time sewing on quilt-style binding!

For whatever reason after turning the hull over I discovered a deformity in the bottom about 8 foot back from the bow. A plywood patch was glued down over the problem. The panel was rough shaped on the bottom to fit and later the top was sanded down to fair out the area as seen in the next picture.

patched the Girl's jeans by placing a bit of blue and yellow Liberty fabric from Joey under the jeans and randomly machine sewing it to the jeans. She's pleased ... says it looks like boxers! :-)

As I was heading out of town on Monday to pickup Wendy from a retreat I realized our Beetle had a tire low on air. I stopped by the local tire shop (Quality Tire) for a quick patch. $12 and 10 minutes later the car was ready to go. I had a nail which they quickly found.

I turned back and caught sight of the aluminum, new and rusty iron but also the fiberglass plastic corrugated siding intended to shield the window on the east of the old barn. Why? In any case the patch over the open window is failing as if it makes a difference on this pole barn. I suppose you noticed I like the patina and the textures found around this old barn, I decided to include different versions of the visible cladding in the edges; it looks like a tin man hit ol' Broley up for new siding! I like to engage the tin man crowd on the phone when they call and usually ask if their vinyl is like the stuff on an old car roof. I treated the siding and black interior to RAW layers and the technique I use a lot now just like I did the clouds example I showed earlier. I find I can exploit the textures on any surface. I may visit the barn yet again even before the weather cools in the fall. I finished the chokecherry episodes and have plenty of juice in the refrigerator to turn into jelly and syrup. But that left a lot of captures unprocessed for a heck of a backlog. That's right logs are stopping me from getting to my stash of unedited shots.

The next excursion might be any day late summer this year considering recent heat and skies. I just accompanied the Edster (not Edsel) up to Wyoming to capture #844 hauling the Cheyenne Frontier Days Train - he got run over! I told him to back off the tracks! And I forgot to bring Russ up with us! We were skunked by the clouds and skies for the duration. Any shots were pointed away from any accumulation of clouds. In any case, I got treated to two triple digit days in a row and was frazzled when I got back. I have low expectations for the shots from that excursion. Today, I am hiding inside in the A/C; another triple digit day was forecast this morning. The President is flying in today to give comfort for the Aurora theater shootings. I ask myself, "What would Boy George do?" Some one in New Orleans answered and said he was Boy George's pet goat.

I spend so much time on my knees when making quilts that I've gone through my jeans!

These patches are made from bits left over from the blue boxes quilt.

Bindlegrim releases the last of the 2012 lanterns...

The scene is midnight, deep in the brambles of the pumpkin patch, crawling with a number of spooky creatures staring back at you.

These blocks were sewn by my Quilt Club Australia Bee. I have sewn them together as a donation quilt to a family who lost their home in the Jan 2013 Tasmanian bushfires. Blogged at findingfifth.blogspot.com.au/2013/05/polaroid-9-patch.html

Made in 1983-84, in response to the Cabbage Patch Kids riots in toy stores. I was 11, going on 12, and decided to make my own spoof of those goofy dolls.

Utilizing old socks and nylons and poly-fiber stuffing, I stitched up "Garbage Patch Punks", punk rock dolls with embroidery floss mohawks, watercolor makeup, nail enamel irises, pipe-cleaner jewelry, alteration tape wrap-a-round shades. I actually took special orders, packaging them in windowed boxes made from old shoe boxes. I sold quite a few, all of the deals brokered through my mom (people she worked with, family friends, etc.) .I actually displayed by Garbage Patch Punks at the Burbank School Hobby Fair at Brickyard Mall in springtime 1984!

Here are three Punks I still have in my possession, looking as bad ass and gnarly as ever.

There is never enough cuteness on-line. I like sharing pictures of my wife and our pet guinea pig Patches Pierre.
