I have a passion for our coast and I'm drawn to it. I visit this place every day walking my dog and I have never seen it look the same twice. Different light, weather, tides and conditions make this an ever changing scene and I would be lost without it.
The passion in passion flower purportedly refers to the passion of Jesus in Christian theology; the word passion comes from the Latin passio, meaning 'suffering'. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Spanish Christian missionaries adopted the unique physical structures of this plant, particularly the numbers of its various flower parts, as symbols of the last days of Jesus and especially his crucifixion: The pointed tips of the leaves were taken to represent the Holy Lance.
The tendrils represent the whips used in the flagellation of Christ.
The ten petals and sepals represent the ten faithful apostles (excluding St. Peter, who denied Jesus three times, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him).
The flower's radial filaments, which can number more than a hundred and vary from flower to flower, represent the crown of thorns.
The chalice-shaped ovary with its receptacle represents the Holy Grail.
The three stigmas represent three nails and the five anthers below them five hammers or five wounds (four by the nails and one by the lance).
The blue and white colors of many species' flowers represent Heaven and Purity.
In addition, the flower is open for three days, symbolising the three years of Jesus' ministry.
The flower has been given names related to this symbolism throughout Europe since the 15th century. Quoted from Wikipedia.

Passiflora, known also as the passion flowers or passion vines, is a genus of about 550 species of flowering plants, the type genus of the family Passifloraceae.
They are mostly tendril-bearing vines, with some being shrubs or trees. They can be woody or herbaceous. Passion flowers produce regular and usually showy flowers with a distinctive corona. There can be as many as eight coronal series, as in the case of P. xiikzodz. The flower is pentamerous and ripens into an indehiscent fruit with numerous seeds.

It is with passion that we live, we love, we hate, we hope, we believe, and we photograph.
Passion is my absolute favorite word! Every thing really worth doing and has a lot of meaning should be done with passion, but thats just my opinion. I'm sure that there is alot of people out there who beg to differ. Anyways as you can guess this was taken this summer and I just saved it up and am pulling it up now. I really hope that you like it, it holds strong meaning for me personally that being my favorite word and all. You don't have to answer, I'm just curious, but whoever happens to be reading this, whats your favorite word? :)
Anywho, I'm off to read New Moon from the Twilight series, one of my two favorite series of books ever!!
Shot this on the first walk around outdoors with my new (to me) Olympus Pen E-PL5 paired with my Pentax-m 28mm f2.8 and a short extension tube. I’m fairly pleased with the results. Gladly took the opportunity to capture this fiery skipper (Hylephila phyleus) butterfly during its visit to our passion flower vine.

Wat heeft de anemoon met mij te maken ? Deze bloem, met een dikke korte en erg kwetsbare steel en met rare grillig gevormde blaadjes krijgt uiteindelijk prachtige, fluweelzachte bloemen met diepe kleuren waarin je eindeloos weg kan dromen als je er oog voor hebt.
Mijn eigen start in het leven was ook nogal kwetsbaar. Zo lag ik op vijfjarige leeftijd al in een ziekenhuis en was halfzijdig verlamd en min of meer opgegeven. Mijn ouders konden niet elke dag die verre reis maken maar gelukkig kwam er die dagen een ver familielid het jongetje, dat 8 weken zonder hoofdkussen plat moest blijven liggen een beetje opvrolijken. Toen ik weer een beetje aanspreekbaar was kreeg ik leuke dingen zoals egelpoppetjes die kleine sigaretjes konden roken, ballonnen met gas erin waardoor ze altijd tegen het plafond verdwaalden, toverpapier waar je de mooiste tekeningen op kon maken, alleen maar door met potlood er over heen te krassen en natuurlijk steeds een bosje anemonen. Deze bloemetjes waren zeer lange tijd mijn enige uitzicht. Nog steeds zijn de diepe anemoonkleuren absoluut mijn lievelingskleuren.
Later, nadat ik gerevalideerd was, bleef ik toch steeds een zwak, kwetsbaar en verlegen typetje, dat meerde malen door het oog van de naald ging.
Helemaal ondenkbaar dat het jongetje na 2500 portretten te hebben getekend, zelf grootvader, jaren later intensief de Argentijnse tango danst op zilveren schoenen.
