Overland Corner, situated beside the Murray River, and once a convenient watering place and camp site for the overlanders and drovers operating between New South Wales and the colony based in Adelaide in the early 1800's. It was also the stopping place for paddle steamers working along the Murray River and coach passengers using the Adelaide to Wentworth route. The pub was built in 1859.

This field in rural Thorhild County was already under several feet of water and rising quickly. It would appear that this farmer moved most of the equipment and implements to higher ground sometime before the floodwaters really began to rise.
