I wasn't sure whether the owlets were out when I was visiting this Great-Horned Owl Mom, but post-processing of the photo revealed one of them... St Louis County, Missouri

Museum at Prairiefire colorful glass exterior as the dawning day bends the light. A museum a natural history melded with art and augmented reality that opened in Overland Park Kansas in 2014 boasts an unique stained glass exterior that is equally a visual fest for those of the photographic persuasion. I was glad my friend and co-worker from Long Island scouted this location that was worth the bitter cold we both endured on that morning. #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @visitthemap @mpbcom @kehcamera @visitoverlandpark @visitkansas #omd #microfourthirds @siruiimaging #micro43 #micro43photography

An ominous, low-level storm cloud approached while I was up on a mountain peak next to Lake Utah in the northern part of Utah. Of course, when you are over a mile above sea level, most clouds do look low the the ground. :^). Fortunately, very little rain fell on me... but some of the wind gusts that suddenly hit were strong!

Still in Kamloops, I decided to work on the Overlander Bridge, and try to make something of it. As it turned out, the shapes rather than the bridge itself, made the most interesting of the images taken. Creating a kind of window and framing the landscape beyond, resulted in the most compelling of the work that day.

It is also satisfying that the water is back in the Thompson River. For some time now, one could walk quite far out onto sand bars, leaving us wondering about water levels. But, plenty of rain and cooler temperatures seemed to have helped current conditions.

Railfanning the Overland Route is challenging. Defect detectors do not talk unless a defect is found, signals are approach lit, and crews don't call signals unless it's a less-than-clear indication. So many of my photos are of the "drive until you find a train, then turn around and drive back to the first neat spot."

Case in point is this empty coal train. While on U.S. 30 west of Ogallala, we spotted this set of signals and active code line. No signals were lit, so we continue east. Not five miles later, this train soars around a curve on the west side of town. An immediate U-turn in the highway and we hightailed it back to the signals for this shot. All in a day's fanning...

I was walking with my daughter when she was little, and she asked me "Mommy are those roses". I told her no, they were tulips. And she said, "Where are the Onelips, are they lonely?"

From that day on, we never called them Tulips, they've always been Onelips. ♥

and the front... sun was setting fast, not sure I got exactly the photo which captures my joy at glancing over as I'm driving and taking in the scene, just magic!

Still need to finish it. Inspired by Missing Brick's tractor, I wanted to do something else that might feel at home in the Hadley's Hope settlement. Going to swap the cockpit for a really boxy one instead.

EDIT: Not sure why the pic is so dark, will fix it when I get home.

A local treasure filled with walking trails, flowers, wildlife, sculpture from local artists and a Chinese sculpture garden, all for a paltry $3 (used to be free).

I used the 3D portion of Photoshop and placed the picture on "cube wraps." It does the harder work for you. If I had a 3D printer I could make a nice little doodad. :) Happy Sunday!

It's 112F here today and humid (that's around 40C). Standing here waiting for a the right car to pass made my camera almost too hot to hold and it malfunctioned soon after and shut itself down without warning.
