The climb took all night but Donald said it would be worth it. Sorry, I promised I wouldn't share the directions. Let's just say it's off the beaten path.
Over winter break we ate at Gladstones on the beach in the palisades, and I set up a timelapse on the railing while we ate. This seagull was curious and hopped closer and closer for awhile, but luckily didn't actually try to fly off with my iPhone.
It sure looks like a fine early afternoon in Brookfield, as Lonnie captured this view looking over the top of his ribside marker, of westbound hotshot 263 while clearing onto the Prairie du Chien mainline.

Last year I was in Norway. On one of the last days I've found a nice hicking trail which lead me to a nice cabin with this view over Kristiansand. I hopve you enjoy the view ;)

It amazes me every year, when plants jump start the new season with a full blossom before they even create new leaves to start the energy gathering using photosynthesis.

Moonrise Over Yosemite
After shooting in the valley all day long, I wanted to go up to the Tunnel View to catch a sunset and an unplanned moonrise. I pulled out the photopills app and knew I had a chance to get something special. Being patient, I waited with some great anticipation. I was able to get a few sunset images from this vantage point. Then it appeared.
I am not to proud to tell you that I had several misfires before finally getting a decent capture. I set the f stop a little higher to get everything in focus. In retrospect, I should have focus stacked another image for the moon as well.
I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the image.

As evening descends over the Rocky Mountains with Union Pacific's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision therein, the rumble of a train can be heard through South Boulder Canyon as they work their way up the 2% grade into Pinecliffe, Colorado. Framed from atop tunnel 29, we see an empty UP westbound oil train pass the sight of the daylighted tunnel 28 in the backdrop, then wrapping around the bend past the Boiling Gulch just before entering the east portal of the short tunnel 29.
The roar of six locomotives working their train through some of the most impressive railroad engineering for its time, the sounds of the South Boulder Creek below and the cool evening air all from my vantage point overlooking the canyon was truly breathtaking and a mere image just cannot do justice.
