Kingfishers (Alcedo atthis) are small unmistakable bright blue and orange birds of slow moving or still water. They fly rapidly, low over water, and hunt fish from riverside perches, occasionally hovering above the water's surface.
Seen at Iron Kettle Farms in upstate New York, a detail of an antique tub. Not much is built this way anymore.
I think this house was probably abandoned because it was getting really hard to see out of the windows. I say splurge and buy a lawnmower. It would be less expensive than getting a new house every time one gets overgrown. Also, it seems to be lacking in curb appeal this way. What do you think? Maybe a green lawn and a simple tree? HWW
I had recently seen several great photos taken by my Flickr friend Sue gr8fl89 at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach, so I decided to check it out for myself. As I came upon a Great Egret and was about to snap a picture, it took flight! At first I felt bad, but I quickly moved into action to get this shot as it flew over the sky reflected water.

Probably one of the mot difficult images that I have taken this year. I’m 6 foot tall and still had to hold the camera with my arms stretched above my head in order to clear the high stone wall
Ok, its not as sharp as I would have liked but I feel it’s still a worthy addition to my woodland work
