Just outside the town of Terrebonne in central Oregon, the Crooked River meanders through an extraordinary geological area, Smith Rock State Park. The spires, bluffs and cliffs seem to have been plucked out of Utah. The park is a world renowned rock climbing mecca and has miles of hiking trails. Spectacular scenery!

Changeable hawk-eagles breed in the Indian subcontinent, mainly in India and Sri Lanka, and from the southeast rim of the Himalaya across Southeast Asia to Indonesia and the Philippines. This is a bird occurring singly (outside mating season) in open woodland, although island forms prefer a higher tree density. It builds a stick nest in a tree and lays a single egg.
The wings are long and parallel-sided, and are held flat in flight, which helps to distinguish this species from the similar mountain hawk-eagle. In overhead flight, comparatively rounded wings (upturned at tip), longish tail, white body (spotted with brown) and grey underside of wings (streaked and spotted) are leading pointers.
Changeable hawk-eagles eat mammals, birds, and reptiles. They keep a sharp lookout perched bolt upright on a bough amongst the canopy foliage of some high tree standing near a forest clearing. There, they wait for junglefowl, pheasants, hares, and other small animals coming out into the open. The bird then swoops down forcefully, strikes, and bears the prey away in its talons.

Thank you for your visit, kind comments, group invites and faves. Always greatly appreciated.
I saw the golden light out of a corner of my eye, and rushed outside . I missed the pure gold, but the sunset put on quite a show. (I'm hoping someone else caught the pure gold)
Below is a zoomed in version and a wider angle.

We had a number of shoots at the Alkaline Ponds east of Mammoth Lakes because of their easy access and wide open views of the sky and surrounding mountains. Those who came in for a weekend workshop on Friday evening were greeted with a lovely sunset at the ponds.

While stormchasing we followed a developing thunderstorm over the river-area in Holland. It produced great CG's (Cloud to Ground Lightning).
This one struck a few miles out of the storm: very dangerous !
Not particularly close, but my heartbeat always rises by a few beats when one comes into view.
Woodwalton Fen, Cambs
There's something peaceful about being at the bottom of a 2,425 foot waterfall... the sound is deafening- loud enough to drown out the outside world...

The Nunnery Quadrangle (a nickname given to it by the Spanish; it was a government palace) is the finest of Uxmal's several fine quadrangles of long buildings with elaborately carved façades on both the inside and outside faces.
A very healthy gannet ;-)
Taken from gannet-dung-pov at Helgoland last year.
Thanks everyone for your visit.
How can I ever try to be better? Nobody ever lets me in. I can still see you. This ain't the best view on the outside looking in. I've been a lot of lonely places. I've never been on the outside.
Taylor, thank you for telling the stories of our lives.

I hope you are all enjoying summer as much as I do! I have had a wonderful vacation on Öland and Gotland, two beautiful Swedish islands in the Baltic Sea. This shot was taken on the small island Fårö ( where Ingmar Bergman lived and died).
It will take me a few weeks to catch up with you all! :)
This was last night just outside the village where i grew up..sorry guys but i am way behind again!..will try to catch up as soon as possible!..LIAM
Took it in Mexico, like the colour so much, the Couch's Kingbird is very similar to the more widespread Tropical Kingbird. 在去墨西哥的時候拍的,挺有魅力的小鳥,在加拿大很難看到

Snowy in the Wind
From the Cornell Lab of Ornithology:
Snowy Egrets wade in shallow water to spear fish and other small aquatic animals. While they may employ a sit-and-wait technique to capture their food, sometimes they are much more animated, running back and forth through the water with their wings spread, chasing their prey.
One of those photos, which when you see it in front of you, you say to yourself, that can't be true, but it is/was.
Another from the balloon rally on Sunday. Got more to work through...FINALLY ordered a new computer, hopefully that will make the process of processing and posting photos less frustrating!! Hope your week is off to a good start!!! Have a wonderful evening and thanks for taking a look!!!!
Please note that black spot on the balloon is not a spot caused by my camera, it's actually a serial number on the balloon. I tried to remove it in lightroom but because of it's location it just looked goofy so I decided it could stay!
A Rare whitebow or fog bow in a field just outside Penryn, Cornwall
Stunning to look at and damn difficult to capture
This 15 second exposure made sure i had enough light coming in through my 10 stop whilst ensuring the fog which was pretty thick was not blowing the highlights
As with all my images i am happy to talk about licensing or printed copies
I am not so happy to find them pinned to pintrest for the world to steal.
Please respect my wishes on this

Glacier Point, Yosemite, California
A scene near Glacier Point, looking down into Tenaya Canyon and across the valley to North Dome and beyond. Everything in view is granite with only a slight covering of trees like these Jeffrey Pines.
That other dome? The one just outside this frame? It gets plenty of exposure. Let's enjoy the rest of the scenery this once.

A shot from my archives, which I somehow forgot to post. Here is the Palace Hotel in the so-called 'Old Town Dubai', and as a bonus, the world's tallest tower in the background. Thanks to my flickr buddy arfromqatar who was staying in this hotel and who made that shot possible (as usual we had some issues with the security guard).
This is a digitally blended Vertorama.
This shot is dedicated to A Parisian Woman in KL for her great testimonial. Thanks again V! :-)
