I found myself surrounded by the wonderful smell of Lavender at the weekend whilst visiting Somerset Lavender in Faulkland, a lovely place to visit for a Cream Tea and to enjoy the wonderful Flora at the Farm which is known as Horsepond.

Another place and photograph off the bucket list, not to say I wont return for a better shot though! :)

Glaskogen is a nature reservation 40 km outside my hometown Arvika. Here you can find a lot of beautiful hiking trails through the woods and also a lot of beautiful lakes like this one in the picture that is called Stora Gla. This is one of my favorite places in Sweden. Here I got for hiking, taking photos and just enjoy the nature.

I was looking to pare down the two hundred (literally) shots uploaded to Lr from my wonderful Summit Lake hike and thought of this one first. I remember when I took this thinking 'this isn't gonna work', but I loved that tree and rocks and that snag, maybe it would be good enough for FB so my Dad can see it. I blew it up and it was chair spin time!

I looked at my photostream last week and decided I was showing too many Rainier shots, so here's a little less...... :-) (Oh, I crack myself up!)

Saw this unique, weird looking mountain, or hill during our hike to the Þríhnúkagígur volcano, near Bláfjöll, in Iceland.

Taipei 101 has been my major theme of shooting since I brought my DSLR. The reason is because it is our local landmark and I can shoot it from many angles during each season. This shooting spot is one of the best during winter.

我真的還蠻專心在拍101的,因為這是我們台北的地標,也是我可以一年四季常常去拍的題材,在各個季節,從不同的角度。像成功橋,就是冬季最佳攝點之一。

Horseshoe Bend, Page, Arizona, USA

This is the downstream side of Horseshoe Bend located outside of Page, Arizona. Although the entire bend is not seen in this view, it is perhaps my favorite photo from our adventure to the site. This is a bit of street photography. I don't know the gentleman, but as I was taking photos of the entire Bend, I spotted this opportunity. I like his placement in the photo, how we don't see his face and his hat. I also like the texture of the foreground formation on which he is sitting. At first, I was not sure that I liked the boats, but decided that while they are an unnatural element, they do provide some size perspective. The photo was taken a short time after a storm. The clouds did provide some soft light and also some haze in the distance.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Most Khajuraho temples were built between 950 and 1050 by the Chandela dynasty. Historical records note that the Khajuraho temple site had 85 temples by 12th century, spread over 20 square kilometers. Of these, only about 20 temples have survived, spread over 6 square kilometers. Of the various surviving temples, the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple is decorated with a profusion of sculptures with intricate details, symbolism and expressiveness of ancient Indian art

The Khajuraho temples feature a variety of art work, of which 10% is sexual or erotic art outside and inside the temples. Some of the temples that have two layers of walls have small erotic carvings on the outside of the inner wall. Some scholars suggest these to be tantric sexual practices.] Other scholars state that the erotic arts are part of Hindu tradition of treating kama as an essential and proper part of human life, and its symbolic or explicit display is common in Hindu temples. James McConnachie, in his history of the Kamasutra, describes the sexual-themed Khajuraho sculptures as "the apogee of erotic art":

Boxtel is a small town, but its big church shows that it was an important place once. Just outside the town you'll find a park in which lies this castle, Kasteel Stapelen. The entire complex was given a new look in early neo-Gothic style in 1857-1858, to fit the then popular ideas about what a medieval castle should look like. Towers were heightened, the facade of the chapel was renewed and countless battlements were added to places where there never had been any. Since 1915 the castle has been used as a monastery. In the Middle Ages a miracle occured here which is still celebrated each year with a big procession.

A cold winter day in Vika outside Harstad, Norway

I was actually in the New Forest photgraphing some Birds of Prey but I became somewhat distracted by the lovely Canada Geese Goslings. Judging by the fact that they couldn't stand up in the breeze very well and the state of their coats I would say they were extremely young.

The winter is not going to last forever... Ice slowly moves away... But it's still cold and windy outside. I hardly look out for something poetic in winter for so long.

The view reminded me the song, that I love:

Southern Alps, New Zealand.

The Southern Alps (Māori: Kā Tiritiri o te Moana) are a mountain range extending along much of the length of New Zealand's South Island, reaching its greatest elevations near the island's western side.

The range runs 500 km north to south. The tallest peak is Aoraki / Mount Cook, the highest point in New Zealand at 3,724 metres (12,218 ft) and there are sixteen other points that exceed 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) in height. The mountains are cut through with glacial valleys and lakes.

The Southern Alps lie along a geological plate boundary, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, with the Pacific Plate to the southeast pushing westward and colliding with the northward-moving Indo-Australian Plate to the northwest.

Interior landscape in Iceland's North. We left the coastline and cut through these plains in order to travel from the Northern coast near Bloenduos to Holmavik in the remote Westfjords. While I truly love coastal landscapes I confess that these barren vistas of ancient lava fields, bog grass and apparently never ending snow-capped mountain ranges really get to me. Seeing them has deepened my comprehension of what kind of toughness Icelanders own in order to make a living there and they have all my admiration for it.

Happy Monochrome Monday!
