That amber and red ahead is (thankfully) not the snow plow this time. Welcome to the first day of spring... I sure wish it looked like this outside right now.

I did plan going out to photograph the Sunset but it got quite windy and brought in some cloud, which I cant really complain much as it gave me this image.

When I took this, I was standing outside of The Lobster Shack (Whitstable). The people inside enjoying a drink while keeping warm must have been looking out the window and seeing me with my coat on, a hat, scarf , gloves and wellies and probably thinking…….

Magnolia, the symbol of purity in some culture. Somehow it appeals to me too. Here is my attempt in capturing the beauty of this awesome flower using my iPhone with the help of an bokeh app. What do you think?

About 15 minutes after As The Sky Speaks the southern arm of the storm front was right over our heads. This shot is looking almost due north over Pickerel Lake. Just before the clouds got over our heads the wind picked up (from a gentle breeze to a gusty 45ish mph). North of the lake the rain was heavy, but where we were standing we still hadn't felt any rain (that came after the clouds were no longer over head - somehow the rain fell after the clouds had passed? - and somehow managed to travel up wind? - I love South Dakota weather:).

Well, I hope you like it.

He came very near to the restaurante, in Pousada Aguapé, and took a little rest in the shade of a tree. No need to say that I immediately forgot about the food :) I think he had a problem in this eye, because it looked like if he had a blue lens, the other eye looked normal.

Between website development and crazy licensing issues, I've been away from my actual photos for far too long. It's during busy stretches like this with the business that my time in the field chasing light and landscapes really comes into context. I'm ready for another trip and some time behind the lens!

This past summer I took an unplanned trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and was very surprised to find these pink Seashore Mallow lining the boardwalk behind the Bodie Island Lighthouse. I returned morning after morning, hoping for some reflected pink light in the sky to match the flowers. This was the best morning that I had.

RIP: Dec 6, 2016 (his birthday) - you were the best boy.

A shot with a difference. My husband and kids on the run up to Big Red. There was quite a cheer from the crowd when they became airborne. Not much of a cheer from me.. I was worried about how we would travel the +1600km home if car was in pieces!

Nappanerica -The largest red sand dune in the world (40 meters high), affectionately known as "Big Red" located just outside Birdsville on the edge of the Simpson Desert. The dunes run from north to south, and are the world’s longest parallel sand dunes. If you're travelling across the desert from west to east it's the last of approx 1,113 dunes to cross. A 4wd enthusiasts paradise.

…and I was back again. My beloved outback. This time it was more of an exploration with a couple of good mates than a photography trip but that’s not to say I didn’t look for more stunning and remote locations worthy of shooting.

So – this is a location in the Flinders Ranges I have actually spent some time looking for and this time, I finally found it. It’s not tricky to find once you know where it is – it’s just not close to where I have been before.

With our tents set up close by, a roaring campfire and some delicious pasta waiting to be cooked we had scoped this location the night before only to determine that it was definitely in need of a sunrise to reach it’s full potential.

I was woken up following morning by a wild dingo outside my tent and soon realized that the sky was looking promising so we scared off the Dingo and headed back to our view point of the razorback ridge.

Thankfully the colours came through and I walked away with a photograph I’d been hoping to one day have in my bag. Thanks again outback!

Not the Carpenters or Earth, Wind & Fire but Great Britain's National Bird, the Robin. This gorgeous Robin wasn't half belting out a tune to rival, or even better, any chart topper at RSPB Old Moor the other day.

The Robin is one of the few birds in the UK that sing all year round. This is due to the importance of holding winter territories. Only for a short period in late summer while they are moulting and inconspicuous do they stop singing. Both sexes sing.

Autumn and spring songs are distinctly different. The autumn song starts after the moult, from late summer onwards. It is more subdued and melancholy in its tone, while the spring song is powerful, confident and upbeat.

The spring song can start as early as mid-December, reaching full force in spring. Its purpose is two-fold: to defend a territory and to attract a mate. Therefore, the spring song is far more powerful in males.

A proper lighthouse was built on the Isle of May in 1816 by Robert Stevenson. and is an ornate gothic tower on a castellated stone building designed to resemble a castle, 24 metres (79 ft) high and with accommodation for three light keepers and their families, along with additional space for visiting officials. The new lighthouse started operating on 1 September 1816, and is now a listed building.

Wiki

It was a very wet and windy day here but inside this solid building you could here a pin drop and be oblivious of the weather outside.

I got to take a few shots from the top of the tower near the light.

A great experience !!
