Beautiful with a dusting of snow on Mt Watkins in the background and a ridge of Half Dome on the right. The elevation here is about 4,000 ft (1250 m); the Half Dome itself is thousands of feet higher, reaching 8844+ ft (2695+ m) in elevation . Nice to see some water in the pool in February.

I hope you have a good week ahead! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

The view of Blasket Islands : Na Blascaodaí

The Blasket Islands are a group of islands off the west coast of Ireland, forming part of County Kerry.

In the 1920s and 1930s the Blasket Island writers produced books which are deemed classics in the world of literature. They wrote of Island people living on the very edge of Europe, and brought to life the topography, life and times of their Island. They wrote all of their stories in the Irish language.

Sadly, the Blasket Island community declined as a result of the persistent emigration of its young people, until eventually the Island was abandoned in 1953 when only 22 inhabitants remained.

Some birds, including this little warbler, appeared noticeably soggy on a wet, foggy day last month at Chicago's Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary.

Thanks to Sharon (& Wayne) for the ID on this bird as a White-Eyed Vireo.

The "Cité de Carcassonne" is a Medieval Citadel located in the French City of Carcassonne , in the department of Aude , Languedoc - Roussillon region (now called "region of Occitania"). It is located on a hill on the right bank of the River Aude , in the south - east part of the City proper .

Founded during the Gallo - Roman period , the Citadel derives its reputation from its kilometres (1,9 mi) long double surrounding walls interspersed by 52 towers ... The Town has about 2500 years of history and has seen the Romans , Visigoths , Saracens and Crusaders ...

The City is famous for the "City of Carcassonne" , a medieval fortress restored by the theorist and architect "Eugène Viollet - le - Duc" in 1853 and added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997 ... (Wikipedia)

While Knäred is a small village in the province of Halland, in Sweden, it still a historic place. Just outside Knäred the peace between Sweden and Denmark was signed 1614. There is a stone to mark the place. Last year a big event celebrated the 400th anniversary of the peace treaty. This church is the church of Knäred, in the setting of a beautiful chaotic sunset cloudscape. Photo by: Jacob Surland, www.caughtinpixels.com
