In keeping with the general waterfall theme of late on my stream, here's a pic of Thomason Force, a small waterfall just outside the tiny village of Beck Hole in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
Rila monastery, Bulgaria, a popular spot to visit, but it's free of the tourist crowds at night, there's a basic but cheap and perfectly adequate place to stay just outside the monastery. Unfortunately it's not allowed for the public to go up to the upper floors, where the view would have been much better.
The sun burst through heavy cloud fo a brief few moments to shine a spotlight on the village of Staffin in the north of the Isle of Skye.

Check out Heather's Page on FB for a look at her Visual Journal, a link to her blog, and a mention of the upcoming release of her book, The Clay Girl in October.
This photo is one of Heather's sunrise shots from the beach at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria resort.
She's a better writer than she is a photographer, and she's a damn fine photographer! :-)

An evening scene at the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, right outside the main basin of Gloucester Docks, towards Llanthony Bridge which is seen at the right.
The last rays of the sun were falling onto the abandoned warehouse and gave the color to the fast moving clouds.
Can you spot Einstein in the picture? ;)
From the upper portion of Boynton Canyon the sandstone cliffs and peaks create a fascinating color palette.
Early Sinaguan people made incredible settlements in this area for nearly a thousand years, with cliff dwellings high in this box canyon as well as lower cliff dwellings to the west in the Verde Valley. At one point, their civilization reached approximately 5,000 people. But, around AD 1425, they simply abandoned the region for reasons still unknown.
Name the tune?
The forecast was for an entirely clear morning yesterday so I got up and went to my local loch to get a long shot of the sunrise. I was initially disappointed when I saw the clouds in the distance, but now that I see the result I am very pleased.
Soundless Deep.
At the top of Plitvice after a long day trekking, just when the night started falling. A beautiful layer of colors from blue hour, the smell of the trees, the pure fresh air of summer evening, the magnificient view, the sound of silence, I was in heaven on earth.

There were once numerous watermills along the River Nene in Northamptonshire, and historical records show that there were two at Cotterstock, just outside Oundle, in the 1300s. The mill building that remains is much later than that and has been converted into a residential property, like several other old watermills that still remain. This old sluice gate, probably dating from the 1800s, is adjacent to the former mill. It is a reminder of our reliance on water power (and windmills, of course) before the invention of steam engines.
One of the wild black bellied whistling ducks at Lafreniere Park, Metairie. Every night they come flying over my house many times making that whistling call headed for the park or the river.

Because of the strong wind, the observatory outside the lighthouse was closed.
In the evening, the key was opened and I went up to the outside observatory,
The tripod was useless, and only this one was able to take without swinging.
Have a wonderful weekend!

This was yet another house left abandoned. I was able to enter this one from the front door. As I approached the porch I could see some belongings of the prior owner. Toys laid faded yet intact with remnants of clothing scattered about. The inside painted a scene of one final Christmas. The family Christmas tree dried up and fallen over inches from where it once stood. On a rather distressed coffee table stood a red vase with artificial flowers as though never disturbed. A torn couch was moved into the dining room as if the new arrangements were better form those currently taking up shelter. I was not able to venture further, as my co-worker/driver felt uneasy. The pondering questions still remain, where did they go, why did they go. How many more shattered lives will be claimed....
