2Flash did this great outline for me. After having letting it marinate a bit I finally got to painting it. After looking at the sketch again when I finished, I think i missed a few small subtleties but kept true to the sketch for the most part.
The sketch took me out of my comfort zone which I loved. Thanks again mate!
After I got the go ahead to start I pencilled the outline out. There's an initial pencil drawing where I just get the proportions right and the basic shapes like windows and gardens right. I generally do this on rough paper as this is the messiest part where I generally do a lot of rubbing out and it takes a bit of time to work things out. After that I scan it in and correct any obvious errors on my computer. Then I print it out with a lower opacity direct on watercolour paper. I like to do this as when it comes to painting its easier to take risks than have that dating aspect of drawing the whole thing out again.
This is the secondary drawing where I'm drawing over the faint printed outline its good just to use the outline as a rough guide and not get caught up with tracing over it. There are elements I've really simplified moving the garden gates to sit more in the centre of each side, removing trees, lowering hedges and walls. You can draw the houses by removing the perspective completely but I like a bit of depth and have each house with their own point of perspective as if you're walking along the road and looking at the houses as you pass them.
A 1970s Corgi shop display stand which I use to store some plastic toys, as it is a bit too fragile for the weight of diecasts. This image is mainly so I remember what is in it. There are quite a few American and German items as well as English ones and others.
The notes on the image should link to other images of the same vehicle – I sometimes find I need to reload the page before the outlines of the link boxes appear.

Socially distant clouds in B&W
Cloud Rorschach Test: I kinda see the outline of a ghost in the middle of the clouds.
Shot with a circular polarizing filter and an orange filter
Another attempt of winter with more snow. Loved how the snow defines the branches of this fallen tree.
This Lego moc has been built for a while just waiting for me to get around to add an illustration to it. I thought it appropriate to create a character that was an admirer of tattoos.
I pulled out my collection of Cling stamps that I have hardly used and enjoyed coloring the circle of flowers with Copics. Added white pen trim (the white pen thing is still a sore spot!) Added the butterfly from another cling set. I started out using the Friends definition cling stamp as a background, but it was "too much", so just used a strip of it. The HA notecard is cuttlebugged using Swiss Dots. I put Glossy accents on the flowers and part of the butterfly, for dimension. All in all, I like the result!
Morning light, northwest Warren County, off Interstate 80 East.
A nor'easter brought a small amount of wet snow to the area. Most of the snow disappeared from the valleys but remained intact in the higher elevations, such as here at Allamuchy Mountain, where it delicately graced even the smallest tree branches.
It was late at night when I saw this lizard siting on our garden's glass door, immediately I took my equipment and set it up
I used 2 flashes
* SB-700 set on 1/16 and aimed on left frame of the door
* YN-560III set on 1/32 aimed on the right frame of the door
triggered with Yongnuo RF-603
taken with sigma 70-300 macro
from this day i liked the focus better in this one.
