Thank you so very much for your interest in Clean Bread and Cheese Creek. Unfortunately the heavy rains of the spring and the areas outdated stormwater management controls of our community has clogged this historic stream with trash. We can certainly use all as many volunteers as possible of all ages and abilities and we look forward to the possibility of working with you! We are all aware of the importance the health of the Chesapeake Bay hold to all Maryland Residents. Those who grew up in this area remember a different creek entirely, one teeming with frogs, crayfish, and minnows – a place where many a child spent long summer days happily playing. It is our goal to bring back that stream, not for me, not just for the residents that live along it, but for everyone who reaps the benefits of the Chesapeake Bay. We are a group of volunteers working with the community, National Public Lands Day, the Ocean Conservancy, American Rivers, Trash Free Maryland, as well as other organizations to clean up Bread and Cheese Creek.
Please mark your calendars for our next cleanup on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Rain or Shine, as the day and time we clean up the section of Bread and Cheese Creek from the Berkshire Area to North Point Road. Registration will be at 2408 Plainfield Road, Dundalk, MD 21222. This event will be run in conjunction with the International Ocean Conservancy as part of their International Coastal Cleanup Event.
We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them
Our cleanups are part of an ongoing effort clean the entire stream by 2014 in preparation for the War of 1812 Bicentennial Celebration. (Bread and Cheese Creek will be receiving two historic plaques on the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail) The creek played a rather significant part in the Battle of North Point which took place on September 12, 1814. Both the American and British Troops camped along its banks, the American troops using is as a rallying point. It is rumored that the young heroes Daniel Wells (19) and Henry McComas (18) used the stream channel to sneak up on British General Robert Ross killing him with their muskets before being killed in return fire. This important part of our history should not be left the eyesore it currently is.

Tested out a beautiful tank of a camera the Canon Ftb (n). I also used some Brooks Pharmacy - Photo Center Film outdated in 2007. It's probably Fuji consumer but may have been Konica. The camera needs further testing, I think it is fine but the film is so bad I can not be positive.
Looking at the film's surface looks like it has be reticulated, it definitely has a pebbly texture and other odd defects. Heat damaged? Underexposed due to age? camera? Probably all of the above.
Looks like this film batch will now be delegated to teaching rolls, practice loading developing reels and cameras.

You can probably play all these Atari hits from the 80s on your cell phone: Centipede, Missle Command, Millipede, etc... Didn't get them all, but DigDug is probably on there too.
My brother and I were finishing up a job, helping an old lady move out and get her house ready for settlement. She didn't want much done, just the bare minimum required by the inspector. So we didn't get to tear down the ridiculously hideous wall paper.
The paper is silver, like chrome or tin foil, with baby blue and brown floral patterns. It is disgusting. The best part is that the white level is pretty accurate in this pic. That fluorescent is actually green like that and those tiles on the wall are kind of off-white. There was also a small window with a pull-down shade MADE OUT OF THE SAME PAPER. It is hard to be in there for extended periods.
The person in the pic trying to make it look a little better and showing off the bad lighting is my brother.
The outdated fuel tanks at the red Hill fuel storage tanks on Oahu Hawaii Are leaking into Oahu‘s fresh drinking water. Numerous residents and military personnel have fallen Sick as well as animals in affected areas. The US NAVY’s solution to this is to drain all the contaminated water into Hawaii’s surrounding ocean therefore creating an oil spill further contaminating the environment, poisoning wildlife AND STILL NOT ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM. The US Navy holds on the the false claim these fuel tanks are necessary to our national security, as if clean drinking water isn’t a matter of national security? The US NAVY refuses to empty the tanks despite overwhelming evidence it is harming the land and inhabitants of Hawaii. The US NAVY ADMITS TO ALL THIS AND IS SIMPLY DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT.

Slide film, aka transparency film doesn't have the latitude of negative films. Your exposure needs to be as accurate as possible. Using it in a simple box camera seems like a challenge. Being limited to one shutter speed and one f/stop then throw some outdated, unknown storage medium format film just seemed like fun. I think the results are wonderful. This camera was a gift from Matt Ayers and it is becoming one of my favorite shooting companions.

In the 1960s Citroën renewed the design and technics of their outdated Type 55 (and U23 series) truck series. Flaminio Bertoni (It., 1903-1964) was asked for the cabin design. He was succeeded by Robert Opron (Fr., 1932-2021).

Parts of the Mall seem so outdated like the food court , still looks very 80s. In February 1955, it was announced that a major shopping center on a 50-acre site at 174th Street and Hawthorne Boulevard would be constructed. The center was officially opened on August 22, 1959 as the "South Bay Center" (or simply as "SBC"). The architects were A. Quincy Jones, Frederick Emmons and Victor Gruen Associates. The center included a large, freestanding, 4-story May Company department store, designed by Albert C. Martin and Associates (with a public fallout shelter in the basement). The store also included a book and record department, furniture department, camera shop, soda fountain and the sit-down "Bay Shore Tea Room" restaurant. Surrounding the department store was an "open air" shopping center with shaded outdoor "breezeways." There were 37 tenants on opening day. The grand opening featured a circus in the parking lot and a draw for a car as a grand prize.[2]
On November 1, 1960, the Democratic nominee for President, John F. Kennedy, gave a speech at the South Bay Center on the last stop of his campaign tour. Kennedy won the general election eight days later, becoming the 35th President of the United States.[3][4] During the 1960s and 1970s, many stores would open and replace older ones. In the south parking lot, a car wash and theater opened. Later on, some new tenants made their debut in the late 1960s and mid-1970s, which included Sunset House Gifts, Florsheim Shoes, Nobby, Pier One Imports, and Putney Station Restaurant at the north parking lot near Artesia Blvd.
In 1985 Forest City Development built a fully enclosed indoor mall to replace the open-air shopping center, to become the "Galleria at South Bay." It included additional anchors Nordstrom and Mervyn's, which had opened a few months earlier.[5]
In 1992 Forest City sold a half-interest in the center to CalPERS,[6] before buying it back in 2001 and changing the official name to South Bay Galleria. In the meantime the May Company store had adopted the Robinsons-May name in 1993 and General Cinema had constructed a 16-screen multiplex cinema in 1997,[7] before the company was sold to AMC Theatres in 2002. In September 2006, the Robinsons-May store was renamed Macy's.
In December 2008, the Mervyn's department store chain closed all of its stores due to bankruptcy, including the South Bay Galleria store. In December 2008, it was also announced that the Kohl's department store chain had bought 48 Mervyn's properties, including the South Bay Galleria property, and would take over the retail space that was formerly occupied by Mervyn's.
Four years later, on December 4, 2012, it was announced that Nordstrom would relocate to Del Amo Fashion Center, after nearly 30 years of service at the South Bay Galleria, as part of Del Amo's reconstruction project.[8]
On August 24, 2015, the South Bay Galleria has announced that they will hold off on finding a replacement for its newly departed Nordstrom store, until the entire mall is renovated.[9] The 2nd & 3rd floors of the former Nordstrom space currently serves as a Wonder of Dinosaurs exhibit.[10] The 1st floor is currently a Department Store called Q.[11]
On January 25, 2018, Australian investment firm QIC acquired South Bay Galleria from Cleveland-based Forest City. [12] QIC plans to renovate the mall and add six acres of landscaped outdoor space opening directly onto a grand staircase entering into the mall along with standalone buildings and apartment buildings. [13]
On November 14, 2019, Forever 21 announced it would be closing its South Bay Galleria location as the retailer closes 111 stores nationwide as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It closed in January 2020.[14] The South Bay Galleria has been used as a backdrop for several movie and television productions, including Fat Albert.

Blight: The word, the image, seems too outdated, something that should have been left behind in the 1970s, in one of those red blood tinged films like Serpico, where it looks like the entire city of New York has been dipped in blood. There's rows of empty trash cans that someone has dented, and trash is everywhere. And while Portland, OR is a long way away from say Brooklyn in the early 1970s, when it comes to certain parts of town, we are not so far off. Anyway, it's the long way round of saying that it reminded me of how timeless blight can be, and that eventually, when the viewer is old enough, it can be a comfort. We live in 2011, and yet, here it is, something that could have come out of Manhattan in the early 1970s, I'll take comfort in that.

Given another outdated Film at Camera Club last week -- an 'ACTIVA 400 ( Konica)' I used my old 1934 LEICA II + 1936 50mm f2 Summar lens again for testing. There are workmen repairing our Road with Colourful Machines and Uniforms. I have some more to show later.
