I was hoping for a little better reflections. But I think this is all I'm gonna get with this much light pollution.

Any other angle and I would've fallen into the Pacific.

I enjoyed a winter break, time away back in the Blue Mountains, around 100 km west of Sydney.

A place of staggering beauty and wonder. Such peace, solace and joy when there. The silence, the quiet. The deep love, appreciation and immersion in nature.

I love the sights, the smells, the cold temperatures there at this time of year and visiting old haunts that have become family tradition.

This is part of the view of the Grose Wilderness as seen from a bush track near Govetts Leap lookout.

Grose Wilderness is named for Lieutenant Governor Major Francis Grose. In 1793 he sent William Paterson on an expedition to see if the river provided a navigable route through the Blue Mountains.

The Blue Mountains Area is a UNESCO World Heritage site, consisting of 1 million hectares of national park and wilderness dominated by temperate eucalypt forest. The area supports an incredible range of biodiversity.

There are six First Nation groups that have connection to the Country of the Area, for thousands of years tied as it is with Dreaming and ancestry. These are the Darug, Gundungurra, Wiradjuri, Wanaruah, Darkinjung and Tharawal peoples.

Lately, I've found myself eyeball high in cypress knees, on Florida's immaculate Ichetucknee River. Lucky me.

The historic Swann Covered Bridge. The longest surviving bridge in Alabama. Built in 1933 with a length of 330 feet. Covered bridges were once important to

transportation across the South. Prior to the development of modern concrete and steel construction techniques, wood was the primary building source available to bridge builders. Because wooden bridges quickly deteriorated due to exposure to rain, snow and the elements in general, the idea of adding a cover became popular as a way of protecting the bridge floors and extending the life of the structures.

Don't judge a book by its cover.

When she met Sprite she was afraid of her a little as she carried a big stick.

But as they walked and talked Allie realized they were not that different!

The church building was built from 1829 to 1832 in the Federal architectural style. It was built with red bricks, "rounded archives, "a stepped gable" and "an octagonal bell tower.

The church played a specific role during the American Civil War of 1861-1865. On Sunday, September 13, 1863, Reverend Baker invited crew members of the Union USS Rattler gunboat to attend his service. However, Confederates burst into the church to arrest them. When other Union crew members found out about the Confederate violation of Sunday truce, they fired a cannonball at the church, which damaged its front wall. The damage is still visible to this day.

The front facade of the church displays the cannonball above the upper middle window. Though this is not the original cannonball that hit the building in 1863, it is an authentic ball of the period, placed during restoration, at the spot where the church was originally hit.

One of the largest ammunition plants in the United States during World War II was located at the little town of Prairie, Mississippi. This is there telephone headquarters.
