San Jose NM, mid-1950s . That's my great-grandpa Sam, WW1 vet. He was very much loved and is fondly remembered by many many people some 30 years after his death. He made homemade wine, and I'm guessing that's what's in the cup. He had a small ranch with horses in San Jose (at junction of Santa Fe Trail and Pecos River). That's my mom he's holding. She's still around, being my mommy:). I wish that Ford was in my driveway. Thanks for looking!

Our pets seem to know that we are going away for a long time. Is it just me or do they really know. I'm glad they will be well taken cared for when I'm gone. Would have taken them all if I could. I'd have to be a millionaire to achieve that. 6 dogs and 15 cats. Seriously
Sometimes our focus may be in the wrong direction. Things needing attention may be inadvertently overlooked in order to see or do the things we want to do. A balance wants to be found to assure appropriate attention is given where it’s deserved. I think that looking at the white flower here without considering the balance gained by the blue sky and green leaves and their contribution to the total capture would be a mistake.

We have had a foot or more of snow earlier in the week, most of which has melted. The weekend temperatures have been in the high forties. We are
expecting another foot of snow in the next two days, along with much lower temperatures.

In our earth-lab, a life form has existed randomly, thanks to the reaction of atoms of the ingredients which were already there, in the lab, for the creation of this life form. It has started to develop and expand on the earth, randomly. Later, after billions of years, it got conscious, randomly , but not all life forms have headed to the same direction. The evolution occurred according "the tree of life”.
Speculation:
Big bang has sealed the fate of our future by creating the atom based universe, like all the necessary ingredients were put in a beaker, in a chemical lab, to become the expected ( not randomly) chemical solution.
A life form is the expected result, depending of the time, of the existence and reaction of ingredients in a beaker.
Searching in the foliage, I was delighted to meet this tiny character, a jumping spider. Perhaps one within the Maratus genus.
For fun, I opened up the camera aperture especially wide - although a lot of detail is lost, I like the heavy depth of field and accent on the eyes here. I was trying to show how protected she looked, deep within the curled, golden leaves.
Dear little spiders, but supremely remarkable, efficient and successful hunters.
I estimate around 7 mm body length.

I suspect it has been moved on by it's parents who claim the nearby field.
Our two dogs are still not completely sure about her, but Cawra seems totally nonplussed.

Expired TMAX from 2004 with a Rodinal still gives such pleasing tones - few combinations like this. The T* lens does a nice job as well.

Ο φλοίσβος του Νοτιά μας ψιθύριζε τα παραμύθια της θάλασσας. Τ' ακούγαμε απ' το λίκνο μας, και προχωρούσαμε με τα τέσσερα να συναντήσουμε τα γοργονόπουλα, που παίζανε στους αφρούς των κυμάτων. Τελευταία το ήρεμο παραμύθι έγινε εφιάλτης. Τα παπουτσάκια που ξεβράζει η θάλασσα, οι σχολικές τσαντούλες, τα παιχνίδια, και κάτι ανθεκτικά μπιμπερό, μας παραπέμπουν στο βυθό της ασπλαχνίας, και στη ντροπή της πιο αναίσχυντης γυμνότητας. Στο βδέλιγμα της ερημώσεως από την ανθρωπιά, και τη φυσική υπόσταση του ανθρώπου.
