"Our Blue Dot" by The Barenaked Ladies
This blue dot is the only shot we've got
If it turns from blue to grey there'll be no way
To turn it back, that's not okay
It's our hometown, we won't let it burn down
It's only fair, let's dream to dare fresh water, food and air
Let's look after our blue dot
Meet Cawra our new resident crow.
I suspect it has been moved on by it's parents who claim the nearby field.
Our two dogs are still not completely sure about her, but Cawra seems totally nonplussed.
The shed provided stunning bokeh lol

We talk. We discuss.
Then we both laugh before we even finish the story because we both know what comes next.
It's just our thing.
Expired TMAX from 2004 with a Rodinal still gives such pleasing tones - few combinations like this. The T* lens does a nice job as well.
Through these city nightmares you'd walk with me
And we'd talk of it with idealistic assurance
That it wouldn't tear us apart
We'd keep our heads above the blackened water
But there's no room for ideals in this mechanical place
And you're gone now
Through a grimy window that I can't keep clean
Through billowing smoke that's swallowed the sun
You're nowhere to be seen

Today is a very windy day with gusts up to 40 and 50 mph, and some interesting cloud drama. The sustained winds are until midnight, with occasional snow showers.
The earthy colors can be quite beautiful in their own way, with the cloud patterns and hues.

……This was a new route to Hawkers cove we found after chatting to an elderly local couple with their 3 dogs, we saw them a few times and asked how they got to where we saw them the second time! A great walk & nobody using it!! Local knowledge goes a long way and we always enjoy a chat with them - some visitors can be a bit ’sniffy’ and won’t even say good morning as they pass! Back home now & lawns to cut (after the rain!) and Jill’s got a mountain of washing after 10 days away!! And we’ve got to get ready for a visitation from family which will be great. Alan:-)

A pair of beautiful Spitfires, a wonderful Hurricane and the incredible Lancaster of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight doing what they always did at the 1980 Farnborough International Air Show
Long before and over the four and a half decades since, time after time they've graced our skies the length and breadth of these Isles
Following their tragic loss earlier this year most of the Flight have been grounded and to date the Lancaster and a Griffon powered Spitfire are the only ones now back in the air
Fingers crossed that they will all return to our skies for the forthcoming season

We are lucky enough to have a stream (we call it a creek) which runs into the woods behind our house. We have watched mama owl and her mate for years. They seem to tolerate us and have their nest right behind our deck. This is their newest family member. He or she set on that limb all day with mom overlooking from a distance. It's a Barred Owl.
Cool huh?
A brother and I stopped at “Our Parents Place” to reminisce for a bit before going on a cruise together. It was a beautiful day and by chance we wanted to get a couple photos of our street rods. We live a few hundred apart and wanted to pay our folks the respect of a visit. We had a blast and our folks never said a negative word. Gratitude and Kindness paid off again.
"Mama Kitty" as we call her has been visiting since early August 2023. She shows up for food and water, but is still very skittish and won't accept petting.

Is this the world we created, we made it on our own
Is this the world we devasted, right to the bone
If there's a God in the sky looking down
What can he think of what we've done
To the world that He created.
I don't think I have ever posted a photo taken from our yard, so here is one I took during a January snow. If you look closely, you can see New Hope Baptist Church in the valley. With all the snow we have been having, this seems like the normal view. We have about a 15-20 mile view and this is the same view we have from our screened porch, where we eat many of our evening meals, during warm weather.
I am posting a photo, in the comments, of our driveway that leads from the paved road. This is about the most level part of the of the road. Once you get to the paved road, It is about 1/2 mile down to the bottom of the mountain. How do we get up and down the mountain in the snow? We have a 4 wheel drive ATV named Big Red that eats snow. We leave our 4 wheel drive SUV at the bottom of the mountain and Barbara, Buffy and I ride the ATV, yes even Buffy. That's a lot of fun when the temperture is in the teens and the wind is blowing.
As you can see by the photos, we live in the woods with the critters.

Stay safe and well everyone.
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. Any comments or Faves are very much appreciated
A note to those of my friends who were wondering why there were no posts from the enchanting kerala diy team for a couple of weeks, here's the answer. The stuff we did for the diy projects rekindled our passion for the arts and crafts and we were fully engaged with some projects involving wood working and metallurgy, what you see is me working on a small workbench to setup a small diy research lab. expect some interesting projects in the near future, a sling shot / catapult, crossbow, benbow tripod, flash extender etc are just a few from a long list of things we expect to publish in the near future.
thanx to all of my friends who'd mailed me.
Regards
Sinu

This is our friend Ron. I have highlighted him before, but felt I needed to say a little more about him.
He is 93 years old now and has many fascinating stories to tell about his life. In fact he has so many that we decided to get a digital recorder and document them.
He only has one sister left living, so we thought it important to document and save these treasures of his life.
This portrait of him was taken on the property he grew up on as a child in Myrtel Creek Oregon. We drove him down there so he could show us his old homestead. :-)
We are very pleased to have Ron in our lives. And as you can see, he is very photogenic too. :-)
