Why did they hide all the interesting vehicles under the trees at Woburn ? There were a few that defied photography all day, and given that I was relying on one to get me home, I couldn't wait around for them to come out !

Marshall only bodied a very small number of Morris chassis - I can only trace 5, and this FGK model was the smallest of the lot. New to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore, north-west London, in 1963, it had been with a preservation group in the area for around 3 years, but was seemingly sold for conversion to a caravan by the end of 1984, so this may have been its final rally in this form. It doesn't appear to have lasted beyond 1988, though.

Films made by health professionals have long been on the fringes of medical history. This situation is justified by the absence of a systematic archiving policy within most institutions. It can also be explained by the nature of the medium, which is sometimes mobilised for its illustrative functions in written texts, and is sometimes subservient to the culture of entertainment and therefore considered unscientific. However, since its origins, the cinematograph has been used to support the work of doctors. In this picture, we see 16 mm film shot in the 1940s by the operator Victor Rich at the request of the orthopaedic surgeon Rodolphe Louis Rochat of the Lausanne Orthopaedic Hospice. The reel was found in the cellar of the operator's grand-nephew last year. Its discovery testifies both to the importance of film history for the history of medicine, and to the importance of oral history in archive work.

An orthopaedic hospital in Surrey, originally the St Nicholas' and St Martin's Orthopaedic Hospital Homes and Special School of Recovery. It opened in 1928, was renamed in 1948 and closed in 1992. By this time TB in children has all but disappeared, making such hospitals redundant. It's near the community of Pyrford.
