Agatha Christie's (1890-1976) detective Murder on the Orient Express was published in 1934. Many people will have seen the movies based on that book. That train ran from 1883 to 2009. When I first visited Sirkeci decades ago, it was still a functioning railway station. There were then no bridges yet from Europe to Asia across the Bosporus; you'd have to take a ferry from Sirkeci to Üsküdar. The station was built in 1890 and ceased to function in 2013, when its tasks were taken over by the Marmaray railway running through a Bosporus tunnel with a new and - I think - rather ugly station adjacent to the old one. Today I nostalgically went to look at 'old' Sirkeci again. I found the station is being turned into a museum, a better choice, anyway, than tearing it down. And there's a sign on the wall: Orient Express...
Gisteren, 22 juni, zou de Venice-Simplon Orient Express ons land doorkruisen. Door de slechte weersomstandigheden in Zwitserland belandden er ginds bomen op de sporen, waardoor de trein uren vertraging maakte en pas rond 14h30 uit Paris Gare de l'Est vertrok.
Uiteindelijk werd er toch besloten om naar Ghlin te gaan, in de hoop aldaar deze majestueuze en iconische trein alsnog te kunnen vereeuwigen bij nog aanvaardbare lichtomstandigheden. Na uren (meer dan zes om precies te zijn) gewacht te hebben, en de tijd gevuld te hebben met het vastleggen van de talrijke IC's, L- en P-treinen die van deze spoorlijn gebruikmaken, brak uiteindelijk het hoogtepunt van de namiddag aan.
Omstreeks 20h10 passeert de brandschone 1862 van NMBS, die in Schaarbeek Groep-R vervangen zal worden door de zwarte 186 293 van LINEAS, om de rit richting Nederland verder te zetten, met maar liefst 17 Orient Express-rijtuigen het plaatsje Ghlin, net voorbij Mons. Op dit moment had de trein een vertraging van ongeveer 5 en half uur.

Was de Oriënt Expess vorig jaar dik vertraagd, vandaag was deze keurig op tijd. Ik besloot daarom één van de weinige 'goed voor de zon' stekken op te zoeken en ging met de trein naar Dordrecht. Terwijl onderweg de zon nog lekker aanwezig was, was het bij aankomst een aardige domper. Maar goed, de trein was er niet minder fraai om!

Passage à Magny sur Tille en Côte-d'or de la BB 26019 pelliculée "Trains Spéciaux", en tête du Venice Simplon Orient Express, sur la marche Bâle-Paris Austerlitz.
Celui-ci accusait un important retard de près de 6h00 suite aux intempéries entre Bâle et Mulhouse.

Alcune antiche leggende, se non ricordo male africane, dicono che le persone sono come gli alberi a partire dalle loro radici e quando mettono radici col passar del tempo finiscono per somigliargli senza neanche sapere quanto.
Pour le compte de la société Hermès, la rame POE (Pullman Orient Express) a fait une escapade en Auvergne, depuis Paris, sur 3 jours, via Dijon Lyon St Etienne Le Puy en Velay Clermont-Ferrand Limoges et retour à Paris. Pour cela, la CMR (Cellule du Matériel Radié) avait mis à disposition les BB 67456 et BB 67556. Avec en arrière-plan la sucrerie d’Artenay, voici le 32202 : Limoges Bénédictins - Paris Austerlitz, le 27 mars 2025. A noter la voiture couchette Corail VU B7c7 en livrée Orient Express pour l'occasion.
De Oriënt express was in Nederland. Lineas en RXP zorgden er voor dat de trein Amsterdam aan deed. Ten zuiden van Zaltbommel zien we de trein voorbij komen. Ook nog een VIRM in nieuw jasje daar.
Voor er gewerkt ging worden even bij Dordrecht Zuid nog gestaan en daarna in de Eempolder bij Amersfoort.
Daarna begon het werken en zien we dat bij dag en nacht in Oldenzaal.
Loc 186293 met de 16 rijtuig tellende trein als trein 19203.
Op 24 juni 2021 ging vertrok na lange tijd weer een Oriënt Express uit Nederland. De trein werd (tot teleurstelling van velen) getrokken door een BR186, in dit geval van Lineas. Ondanks dit feit was het een drukte van belang in Amsterdam om het 17 rijtuig tellende gevaarte vast te leggen. Ondanks dat het geen wereldplaat is toch leuk genoeg om te delen.
