Here in Southeastern Utah, trailer homes are a popular housing option where boom and bust economies exist. In some areas, an old trailer, and or an old kitchen appliance, and or dead cars are part of the landscape and can even be considered sort of religious icons or art projects as they get traded around between family members and close friends.
I have my own trailer, (sans old kitchen appliances and dead cars) acquired years back to serve as a quiet/artistic space away from the "flying f**ks" and drywall dust that banged and floated around the house while we were remodeling our home. It now serves as storage for boating and camping gear.
On stormy evenings, when the setting sun peeks through clouds, the trailer's door and windows glow an other-worldly gold with the white siding fading to blue. The scene always seems to present itself at times when I'm cooking dinner or too tired and lazy to pick up the camera.
Last week, while photographing storm clouds, I went to the back of the house for possible rainbow views and saw the gold without any rainbow and decided to dance a little with ICM and Multiple exposure.
It's amazing what you find when you look.
After running the Wednesday only 888 service from Newton Abbot to Daccombe for the past few years Country Bus of Heathfield have handed the service over to Newton Abbot Community Transport.
Pictured at the end of this era of service in the rain appraoching Daccombe is Minibus Options bodied Mercedes 614D, FN05EFJ.

When we were discussing options for this year's autumn hiking adventure, it almost seemed like there was nothing left in northern Scandinavia that we all still wanted to explore. However, after some discussions, we realized that Finnish Lapland might be an interesting and convenient location for our regular autumn outdoor pursuits.
After conducting some research and planning, we narrowed our focus to Finland's northwest, bordering Sweden and Norway. More specifically, we honed in on the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, which happens to be the second-largest wilderness area in Finland.

Käsivarsi is somewhat atypical for Finland due to its higher elevation (Finland's highest peak, Halti (1,324m), is located in its northern tip), rugged terrain, and limited wooded areas. This combination sounded particularly attractive to us because it meant we would hike across various types of landscapes, both on and off marked trails.
Our itinerary was as follows: Kilpisjärvi/Saana mountain -> Tshahkaljärvi lake -> Siktagurajohka river -> Meekonjärvi lake including trip to Pitsusköngäs waterfall -> Porojärvi lake including ascent of Saivaara cliff -> Guhturgurajávri/Termisjärvi lakes -> Ailakkajärvi lake -> Kilpisjärvi.

This image of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge connecting Charleston to Mt. Pleasant in South Carolina was created quite accidentally. My wife who happens to be my best friend and I were spending our anniversary in this charming southern community. I immediately fell in love with the design of the Ravenel Bridge.
One evening after dinner I decided to hike up to the diamond towers to photograph this magnificent structure. I was excited. The night was clear with excellent weather conditions. Except fifteen minutes after I arrived the decorative lights on the bridge went out leaving me in disbelief.
Not to be left with little to show for my effort, earlier that day we went to Patriots Point where there is a vista presenting a panoramic view of the bridge. This night time view was astonishing for me the next day. Additionally, this is the anchorage site for the carrier USS Yorktown, destroyer USS Laffey, and
submarine USS Clamagore all part of the Naval Maritime Museum.

This is an excellent option for those of you who like Mexican food.
I live almost next door to this restaurant and that really suits me. I purchased my apartment more than twenty years ago and back then there were very few restaurants in the immediate area and it was impossible to find anywhere open for lunch at the weekends. Today things are totally different.
Up until September Bodkins hosted an excellent restaurant known as the Hungry Mexican which may well have been the best Mexican restaurant in Dublin [I visited at least twice a week ] but the chef decided to move on and establish a new restaurant which hopefully will open on Capel street within the next few months. Once I recovered from my disappointment I discovered that El Patron proved to be an acceptable alternative for me and I visit on a regular basis.
Next Monday [5-12-2016] Bodkins will launch an exciting new restaurant under the name BoCo and they will specialise in serving high quality pizza.
Not far away is the Hanoi Hanoi Vietnamese restaurant which happens to be my favourite restaurant in the area but recently there has been a change in management and as a result major changes are on the way. The core Vietnamese restaurant will continue as it was but there will be a Sushi section plus a B-B-Q section. A name change is also on the way.
Despite the increasing options available to me I will continue to visit the El Patron Mexican restaurant for casual dining and I would advise you to give it a try.
It's funny how you can know, even before you look it up, that an RE in a northern municipal fleet would have had a Leyland engine. You can understand regional loyalty, but Patricroft-based Gardner was hardly more "southern" than Leyland ...so why the prejudice? Leyland is somehow urban and industrial, but Gardner country town and rural. The Gardners were mainly found among Tilling fleets, I suppose, but that doesn't entirely account for it. All I'm saying is that I can simply look at an RE and know, with ...ooh, 90% accuracy... which engine it had. By this time, Wednesday 20th October 1976, it was a case of NBC and PTE, rather than Tilling and municipal. Tyne & Wear's RESL no. 981 had been new to South Shields Corporation. I know you've seen this bus already: a little later, when I'd walked out along Newcastle's time-honoured Scotswood Road, I took another photo of the vehicle on its way back into the city. Though generally opposed to "light" bus liveries, I quite liked Tyne & Wear's. Its saving grace was that they'd retained cream as the "relief" colour and not followed the NBC (and many others) down the "white" route. Interesting one-piece number blind.
