the optimism of daffodils in January, looking great and getting ahead of themselves a bit.
A dull corner of the garden under a big ash tree. For a couple of weeks in Spring the daffs will really brighten it up.

Iβm not optimisticβ¦ so I cannot say βthink pinkβ
Iβm not (so much) pessimistic and I do not wanna say βthink greyβ
So⦠this morning was soooo grey, again!
So I remembered one of the last pink morning we had!
I kept this shot for a grey day!
And itβs getting colderβ¦
My perfect xmas gift? A summer weather forever!
Of course even the sea was different: instead of a flat table like this we had a waving water!! :D
That left Lassie a bitβ¦puzzled! She was standing off, just to be sure to be safe! :P
Happy Furry Pink&Grey Friday !

Thank you Flickr Friends !
Mostly I'm an optimistic woman in my heart. And even though I'm a person who often says: no white without the black I want to convey positivity. For a few days already it feels as if I'm in a black period of my life. I'm left with almost no hope by all the things going on in the world and it seems I can't get rid of it.
To better days and peace!

Optimistic sunset shot looking toward the Buachaille Etive Mor from near Blackrock cottage. Alas the cloud shrouding the iconic munro did not budge. Entrance to Glencoe is on the right of the image with the route to Glen Etive on the left into the light..
Palmyra is a set of spectacular ruins in Syria (which none of us have visited recently), but which I was fortunate to have seen in 2001. ISIS dynamited several of the monuments here, murdered the chief historian, etc. and tried to remove any evidence of any pre-Islam religion. The Brits set up a model of this arch in London (Trafalgar Sq), which was on the news yesterday.
Preservationists/archaeologists who have visited the site (since its recent re-capture by the Syrian govt) are cautiously optimistic that some of these monuments (including this arch) can be reconstructed...
I try to stay optimistic, but that means that I have to avoid the news! I pray for the biggest blue wave imaginable in November that will totally hobble the petulant, ignorant child that currently resides in the White House and all his corrupt, incompetent, disgusting minions!!! When I think of the loss of great leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy whose assassinations happened 50 years ago this year, I can't comprehend how we have come to this and how much damage can occur before he is removed from power.
"Now I lay me down before I go to sleep.
In a troubled world, I pray the Lord to keep,
keep hatred from the mighty,
And the mighty from the small,
Heaven help us all ...
~ Lyrics by Ron Miller - first performed by Stevie Wonder
"The arc of the moral universe is long,
but it bends toward justice."
~ Theodore Parker - popularized by Martin Luther King, Jr. who was murdered 50 years ago this month.

I was optimistic that the sun would disperse the cloud I saw early this morning but I drove for 45 minutes to Ballycastle without a break in the sky. On my way back, I saw in the rear view mirror that that sun had indeed come out over the sea and also over the hills above the town but there was no turning back as I'd noticed my favourite place for breakfast of bacon and eggs at the harbour was closed today :(
Home of the Museum of the American Indian, a division of the Smithsonian. I almost did not go into the building as the first thing you see in the foyer are portraits of both Trump and JD Vance resting on two easels. It just made me nauseous, But I asked if there had been portraits of President Biden and Vice President Harris during the previous administration, and the security guards said yes.
As many of you know, I use a mobility scooter to get around the city and in every museum. I am usually just whisked through. Although of course Iβm happy to present my camera bag or my pocketbook or anything else that I have on me that security would like to see. But generally speaking people just let me through. Not here. It was like a TSA screening with a wand and full body pat down, a thorough search of the scooter, etc.. It was ridiculous. I don't remember ever having such a "thorough" search on previous visits. But I love the rotunda and being a quiet day, I was optimistic. I could get some good shots. Indeed I did.

Seen in the Roger Raveel Museum in Machelen (close to Ghent, - BE). Not so many painters in Belgium have their own museum. The work is entitled βThuisβ, which is βat homeβ (the usual place where you can take off your shoes). It is made in 1973 of oil paint and βmixed mediaβ. This mix is true because the shoes βmost likely from Raveel himself, are for real. They are integrated in the painting by some added blue in exactly the right tint. So the shoes are also a little bit painted. The black line, overstepped by the right shoe, is a typical Roger Raveel line; if you see a rather rudimentary painted work in Belgium with not too many details and with somewhere a clear solid line in it, it is probably a Raveel. This overstepping shoe is another reason why I like this painting; it somehow depicts the desire to enter into a new space, which could be βhomeβ. As you can see, there is an excess of daylight pouring into the museum, but the light in the room of this painting is more tempered. This provides momentum to the optimistic blue paint, which somehow seems to flow from the painting into the museumβs interior; this is no coincidence, this painter wants his painting to do just that. The environment was always very important for his work. He even used his artworks to make people aware of local environmental issues like pollution or the replacement of rivers by canals (βClub of Romeβ-issues which became more prominent in the nineteen seventies and βeighties). His art was sometimes the tool of an activist with a different kind of looking at things. Thus, even an artwork called βat homeβ has this interaction between home and the surrounding space.
Despite its name, the Woods betwen Rearsby and Brooksby on the Melton line are quite stunning with little lakes and the River Wreake running through it.
In addition to the River there is also a wide variety of Railfreight also running through. On October 6th 2017 37800 powers through dragging 387160 as 5X47 Old Dalby - Derby Litchurch Lane

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. ~Elwyn Brooks White, Essays of E.B. White, 1977

You Can Find Beauty in Anything... If You are Willing to See It [120/365] - Today marks 120 days into Project 365... 4 months of 2009 have already passed and it seems like it was only a couple of weeks ago that we rang in the New Year! It's silly to say, but this photo project has quite possibly changed my life! Maybe not drastically, but I'd be lying if I said that it hasn't made an impact. Not only did it inspire me to upgrade my camera, but it's motivated me to actually leave my house, stretch my imagination and search for beauty in things I'd never look at twice before. I've got a long way to go before I can confidently say that I know what I'm doing, but learning is part of the fun.
A lot of things in life are really great right now. I could list them but that would take all night. On the small scale of things, it's the end of the work week and I have some pretty exciting weekend plans. Life is so much better when you force yourself to be optimistic.
PS.. The forest was so pretty today, and I wanted to explore it more and take some fun photos. Unfortunately there were some creepy forest folks lingering and they made me a bit nervous. What would I do, hit them with my tripod? Haha.
OH and before I forget... a huge thank you to Anita and Mel for the testimonials! You ladies are so awesome!!!

Fall is a season of change
Bright vivid colours...the last hoorah of the season...before it lets nature sleep.
It also gives us a lesson of season..and change....and realizing the beauty before us.
Change is natural...and what lies ahead....can not always be what one expects......but for us to gather strength to deal with the things that can not be changed....
Fall gives us hope....and a passion to be optimistic in anything that lies before us....
