Sunset at Avillion Port Dickson.

An optimistic great grey heron fishing in the River Dodder in south Dublin.

There's a lot of Lightroom colour editing on this one. I changed the white balance to fluorescent and then used the circular mask tool to remove the blue from the heron and a second time to darken a bright white glare from one the rocks. Then a few more general tweaks on shadows and highlights.

Happy Slider Sunday!

"We have a finite environment - the planet. Anyone who thinks that you can have infinite growth in a finite environment is either a madman or an economist."

(David Attenborough)

In a more optimistic version, after the Flood, the sun shines again and gives warm, golden hues to the water reflections and the background. But the clock is ticking, the wait has been long and nature has been far too forgiving. Remember, there is NO planet B.

One from my dreamy morning on Latrigg!

Wish you a very happy day.

Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one's life or the world at large.

“I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority.”

During our visit with Andy in March, he took us to St Bee's Headwalk that lead to Fleswick Cove. We started merrily on our way without food or water, with Andy's optimistic refrain "it's just over that ridge". Two hours later we reached the cove and it was amazing...of course we were hungry and thirsty and facing an equally long walk back. Mark loves to give him endless grief about it...:-)))

However, it was an amazing walk and we came away with the most treasured images and memories.

An optimistic Short-eared Owl on the prowl at dusk.

Conditions for this image were challenging. The setting sun was on the horizon and the barely visible subject about 250 feet away, flying at full speed.

Considered rare for this area and time of the year.

One of these days, or years, I am going to get to photograph this location in perfect conditions. Near Tibbermore in Perthshire, Scotland.

... the canal was half-empty at this point :-) for some unknown reason - although the goose in view looked to be having fun :-)

Happy Monochrome Bokeh Thursday!

Take care, stay safe and be optimistic. Thanks for stopping by and for all of your support -- I deeply appreciate it.

A sense of "almost" normalcy has arrived finally. Time to make up for lost time..speak your own mind...don't listen to negative people...be optimistic....make your own decisions. Ignore social media. Life is what you make it.

This optimistic American goldfinch male is starting to grow his golden spring plumage in even if the weather still looks and feels like winter here at Lake Meyer Park. The ground is pure white as I write this tonight.

forget the beginning and then there will be no end

all the people u hate are going to eventually die..

Strengths: Courageous, determined, confident, enthusiastic, optimistic, honest, passionate

Weaknesses: Impatient, moody, short-tempered, impulsive, aggressive

well... the strengths outweigh the weaknesses... haha!

This little Blue Tit looks happy that it is a sunny day but he is apprehensive about the long winter ahead. Living in the UK I know how he feels... never trust a Politician.

Book Bazaar in Athens - The Optimistic Version

Abereiddy is famous for its beach and the optimistically named Blue Lagoon. It's a popular spot for coasteering, making it the kind of place I would normally avoid for photography. However, like so much of the Pembrokeshire coast, it also has incredible rock formations that provide limitless subject matter. I spent a few hours here photographing rock abstracts and details. I could happily have stayed longer, except the area I was photographing became over-run with bathers and thrill seekers. Even so, I made two of my favourite images of the trip here within a few feet of each other. Which I suppose just goes to show there's always a photograph to be made if you have a mind to.

"Keep, keep on

Never say die

When in the midst of sorrow

You can' t see up when looking down

A brighter day tomorrow will bring.

You hear the voice of reason

Telling you this can't never be done

No matter how hard reality seems

Just hold on to your dreams.

Don't give up and don't give in

Although it seems you never win

You will always pass the test

As long as you keep your head to the sky

You can win as long as you keep your head to the sky

You can win as long as you keep your head to the sky

Be optimistic." - Sounds of Blackness ♫

Gi looks upward & onward while living her very best life ❤️

The view across Loch Ailort from the road is mainly obscured by tall bracken or bushy trees. But I love the fleeting glimpses as I drive by. When the sun shines and the weather is blustery I love the back lighting of the trees, but I've yet to capture it properly. I'm optimistic I will get a better chance in November or December when the vegetation has died down a bit
