Yellow color is associated with sunshine, hope, laughter, warmth, happiness, and energy. Yellow is found to make a person feel spontaneous and happy. A splash of yellow on anything dull or dark can make a person feel cheerful and optimistic.........
An optimistic egg! She hopes to survive in the cold refrigerator and she is waiting for someone to rescue her before the cooking time! :-)

I'm using love of nature and colour in my attempt to be optimistic.
Here's another shot of wildlife that could not be approached closely. Although I used a telephoto for much of that day's shooting, one of my last images, made with a 50mm lens, proved to be among my faves. Sometimes I get too caught up in trying for the close up; it's good to remember to get habitat shots, too.
Snow Geese used to stage at Reed Lake in enormous numbers in October, but that has changed due to our ongoing drought. Six weeks ago it was almost completely dry and there were no birds. None. A heavy snow pack this winter could change all that, but right now I am not optimistic. We often have snow and cold weather in my area by early to mid-November. Well... not this year.
I'm lucky to have arrived on the scene full time in 2011: we were in a wet cycle, and habitat for migratory birds was superb.

Black-headed gulls (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) are small, sociable gulls commonly found across the UK, recognizable by their chocolate-brown breeding heads and noisy, gregarious behavior.

"The Sagittarius horoscope symbol is the Centaur or Archer. The Sagittarius sign symbol is usually depicted as an arrow pointing upwards. Sagittarius is always aiming for a higher spiritual ideal and philosophy in life, in addition to embodying an optimistic attitude. Thus, the Sagittarius symbol of the arrow pointed skyward expresses the wisdom and honesty of this philosophical zodiac sign."
I'm a Sagittarius and I wouldn't necessarily say that all the above is true. I do feel though that the unicorn expresses the essence of the sign with the horse-like body and the horn pointing upward, reaching for the heavens.
I had planned to post a forward-looking optimistic post to anticipate the New Years celebration. However my community was visited by a horrific fire today that has put a huge damper on local spirits. A grass fire likely started by a downed power line spread quickly fanned by 80 mph winds into two communities east of Boulder, Superior and Louisville. At least 600 homes and several businesses were quickly consumed, making this the most destructive fire in Colorado history. Additionally a hospital was evacuated, but thankfully was not damaged by the fire. At this time no deaths have been reported, but a thorough evaluation won’t be possible for a few days. Ironically our first major snowstorm is forecast for tomorrow.
This photo is not the Marshall fire described above, but rather is from the 2020 Calwood fire, also in Boulder County. The scene provides a sense of the overpowering nature of fires in an arid landscape, which are becoming a more common occurrence outside of the “fire season,” likely due to climate change.
I came across this strange scene of an ant pulling on a wing of a healthy sweat bee. Despite of its size, the ant was giving the bee a hard time, because it could not take off.
