Well, 2024 is ending. Is it with a sense of relief, like Thank Fv%£ for that? Didn't so many of us just struggle to exist through the year. I know we worked very hard through the summer months but gained so much in warmth, happiness in smiles with people from all around the world. And we finished on a high with a large family gathering at Christmas. But the year was mainly a washout in terms of weather. We were grateful for a splash of glorious springlike weather early on and a late hoorah of sunshine in September. But a shadow covered the world thoughout the year, and hangs over us still. The future seems bleak in many ways and yet we are supposed to go into 2025 with hope and optimism: politically, geo-politically, economically, racially and culturally. For me, 2024 will end on a high if our 10 week old granddaughter is able to return her West Highland home from a dash visit to see a paediatrician specialist in hospital, a three hour journey away over what are likely to be snowy mountain roads within the coming hours. I just hope and pray 2025 makes us all, friends and family, happier with a healthy and prosperous New Year
Sunrise serenity at Hua Hin beach. The gentle lapping of the waves against the shore creates a calming soundscape, while the vibrant colors painting the sky evoke feelings of peace and optimism for the day ahead. Thailand.

happy friday =D
This was inspired by the oil spill....Despite the darkness of the hour and the seeming lack of hope, she peacefully surrenders to her journey.

What is it about street art that is appealing? Is it the fact that it defines our city, the unpredictable quality that provides temporary landmarks, our need to hold on to a transient beauty that we feel afraid to fall in love with?
Or is that we live in a diametrically opposed world and city and we choose to see the artists vs. the bankers and optimism for creative expression over violence winning out?
And what is it about the human element next to a mural or work of street art? Is it that we too are transient and not ever fully formed..that we are ever moving across different parts of our city, our cells constantly recycling?
Do we even know who we are anymore? What do we know about ourselves? What do we know about our city? What do we know about art?

I ran 15km today. My farthest distance in a year at least. My body hurts a great deal. I feel old.

One of the meanings of yellow flowers is associated with friendship. In addition, this color also symbolizes the joy of life, optimism and energy. Therefore, it is a perfect gift for those who are a little down
Several plants, including a red maple, have colonized this boulder surrounded by the water of a New Hampshire pond, perhaps 50 feet from the shore. I'm afraid their future is not rosy, but I will come back next year to see how they are doing.

Optimism - the doctrine or belief that everything is beautiful, including what is ugly.

Mother Nature gave us a brief taste of Spring recently, with bright sunshine, blue sky, and warm temperatures. It was a glorious day to get outside. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Best viewed large.

the optimism of daffodils in January, looking great and getting ahead of themselves a bit.
A dull corner of the garden under a big ash tree. For a couple of weeks in Spring the daffs will really brighten it up.

The invasive buckthorn plant are prolific in parts of Mary Cummings Park in Burlington.
The plant winds itself around native trees as it searches for sunlight. The weight of the buckthorn pulls its host down. In this section of the park, the buckthorn has formed a tunnel as plants from either side of the path have merged in the canopy.
Not sure how many, if any, springs I get to see but I'm really grateful for the one that is currently around me...giving me bits of hope and optimism.

I'm adding this high key abstract of a water lily on a day when optimism is needed. In Egypt and Asia, the water lily has often symbolized rebirth and optimism. We here in California are voting in the primary elections for the next President of the United States of America. It has been a long battle.
Our media has betrayed our trust and the election has been bought, but we are still fighting for the truthful candidate. I know through Facebook that many citizens of other countries are fighting along side of us to try to elect Bernie Sanders so you are probably aware of this battle that is waging in the United States.
My state is huge and will have a big influence on the election. Let's hope the honest and compassionate candidate wins. Here's to the rebirth of the American dream!!!! Taken in a lily pond in the biggest democracy in the world India!
