Taken for the Macro Monday Theme "Opposites". Even if a real matematician might not agree...a circle and a line are opposites for me. HMM everyone!
These two Female Common Mergansers were looking in opposite directions. Maybe they were two sisters that did not along, only they will know for sure. The British call this bird the "Goosander." The female Common Merganser has a solid gray body with a reddish-brown head. She has a narrow, red, serrate bill and white chin-patch at the base of the lower mandible. The short crest of the female is often not obvious.
Staten Island Preserve is the place to see Sand Hill Cranes up close. You can spot them along the road, feeding in the marshes. This pair was together, and we loved how their eyes were at opposite angles. We just love to see these crimson-capped cranes as they make their return each year.
The chocolate cheesecake looks good, but the classic cheesecake was the winner!

OK- so not your average macro - sort of an opposite in itself. A compass exemplifies opposites - North/South, West/East.

Marco Monday topic is opposites so here I have a couple of plugs, one has square pins and the other has round pins,with the added colour of yellow and blue
I was inspired by someone whose Flickr follower I am, he does a lot of things with feathers and stones and wood and it's usually in very minimalistic colours.
I have a habit of picking up stones when I like them and this is one of them. The feather was a present from a little bird, possibly a Great Tit. It is less than 3" long.

I had definitely all kind of weather
I went out with a t shirt, it was 20°C
I noticed the dark clouds
And thought, well I'm waterproof

I continued my walk
Of course
I love weather
And I was rewarded with marvelous sun
Peeking out from the clouds
And when I came home this appeared
From the opposite side of where the sun was setting it was a glorious light

This photo was taken on our way to Mingun Pagoda located northwest of Mandalay on the opposite side of the Ayeyarwadi.
They are using a traditional wooden boat.
