This weekend we were able to give Jackson, one of our young patrons, a tour of behind the scenes at Glimmerglass Opera. After seeing "The Marriage of Figaro" with his family, and expressing to us how much he loved the performance, Jackson returned the next day to attend "The Tender Land" where he was given a few souvenirs from Figaro as well as a backstage tour by our Production Coordinator Kate Newman. I had the pleasure of being able to accompany Jackson and his family on their tour, and it was great fun being able to capture Jackson's interest in opera production! Here he is in the Wig & Makeup room of the Wardrobe House, checking out where the actors come to receive the final touches on their character before hitting the stage.

Performance of Offenbach's 'La belle Helene' by the orchestra, choir and ballet of the Kraków Opera. Kraków, Poland
The Brenham Opera House, at 101 West Alamo Street, was built in 1872. This two-story building was once home of a fine opera house on the second floor, and Alex Simon’s general mercantile on the first floor. The upstairs opera house had a large stage, orchestra pit, a dress circle, dressing rooms, and box seats with gilded and velvet upholstered seating. It is rumored that deceased opera performers still haunt the building today.

The opera house, no opera's were going on the week we were there. But we did take a tour. It was amazing inside.
Oslo Opera House is undoubtedly one of the most striking examples of modern architecture that I have seen. It looks almost like a spaceship from Starwars!
