Opera for her neighbours during the COVID 19 lockdown. Soprano Julieth Lozano performs outside her home for neighbours and passers-by who are drawn to her singing and stop for her performance. Kensington, London, United Kingdom. May 14, 2020. Photo: Edmond Terakopian
I have tried to shoot this structure of incredible beauty for many years. But every time I didn’t have a sky that was worth competing with the beauty of the Opera House. Then things came together one day and I was there to shoot.
Hope you like it!
The Armenian National Academic Opera & Ballet Theater in Yerevan was founded in 1932 and was opened on January 20, 1933. The theatre building was constructed in 1940 by the architect Alexander Tamanian.
Surrounded with numerous cafes, it's now a popular spot for evening walks and entertainmanet.
Thanks for your visit and have a great day!
Sydney Opera House (1957 - 1973) is a masterpiece of late modern architecture. It is admired internationally and proudly treasured by the people of Australia.
It was created by a young architect who understood and recognised the potential provided by the site against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour.
Denmark’s Jørn Utzon gave Australia a challenging, graceful piece of urban sculpture in patterned tiles, glistening in the sunlight and invitingly aglow at night.
Jorn Utzon died in Copenhagen in November 2008 aged 90.

Last night’s informal HDR workshop was an absolute pleasure. I gave an example of my basic HDR workflow while drinking wine and eating cheese – what more could a man ask for?
It was nice to be teaching again. I’ve missed it.
Unfortunately we arrived late due to a slight mishap in the directions I wrote down. We were lost for about 20 minutes before finally recognising a few attendees and tagging along with them.
Rachel blamed me for the little detour. I suppose she’s right. I’m over confident with directions sometimes. I looked on google maps and wrote down enough of the directions. Rachel asked to see my notes as we wondering the streets. She was disappointed to see that the page only contained 3 semi-words – “rue de prof”. I thought this would be enough information.
I’m meeting with one of the attendees who I’ve been shooting with a couple of times now about the potential for working on HDR-related apps – the emphasis is on creating something unique and useful.
I’ll be brainstorming over the weekend. Any ideas are welcome.
Today’s Photo – The balconies
These are the balconies at Opera Garneir. It was a hand-held shot and I used the workflow on my tutorial to process it – www.hdrone.com/beginners-hdr-photography-course-art-of-hdr/
Not one for the purists due to the high level of processing, but I do like the composition and slightly strange feel to this.
Opera " A Zori Zdes' Tihie..." by K. Molchanov ("The Dawns Here Are Quiet...") in Urals State Conservatory (Yekaterinburg)
A few months ago now I was really in the mood to go out and shoot so I decided to head to Circular and capture this image of the Sydney Opera House. The weather wasn't ideal that day but it still made for a decent blue hour image.

As I was out and about taking pictures on an overcast February day, I came through the small town of Catawissa, PA. This old building was on the corner of a very busy cross-roads and it definitely caught my eye. I haven't found much information about the building aside from a fellow poster on Flickr. This building was apparently built around 1869. I'd love to learn more about this sharp old relic.

Salle de spectacle / The Auditorium. Charles Garnier built the auditorium in the tradition of an Italian theatre. Shaped like a horseshoe, the stalls are overlooked by several tiers of boxes and balconies allowing as much to see as be seen.
The ceiling by Marc Chagall was inaugurated in 1964 and affixed over the former one by Jules Eugène Lenepveu. Chagall completed the pantheon of opera composers whilst paying tribute to Garnier, with whom he shared a taste for shimmering colours
A dynamite blast traditionally launches the Central City Opera season as the town revels in its best-known landmark. Built of local brick and stone, the opera house seats 500 on the lower floor and 250 in the balcony.
The Gilpin County Opera Association raised money by popular subscription to build Colorado's first notable theater. While many wanted a pretentious opera house, Robert Roeschlaub, his daughter Alice later claimed, “stood fast for a different type—one that would be in harmony with the great mountains surrounding it, an expression of the new and simple West.” One-foot-thick stone and firebrick side walls lack decorative elements, which are saved for the front.
After the 1878 grand opening, the house survived by hosting political rallies, wrestling matches, lectures, high school graduations, and funerals. It is still in use today -- you can see opera performances this summer if you take the drive over the Central City Causeway!
