Today's theme is shots from around Sydmney Harbour. Here a shot of the Sydney Opera House taken on a bleak morning while I waited for the sun to break through the clouds. It never happened, but when the world hands me lemons, I make lemoade; here is the result.

A man alone in misery sits

His dreams have all been smashed to bits

Abandoned by the one he loves

His heart as fragile as a doves

Alone he sits inside the waste

Of mirrors smashed to hide his face.....

This was the last of the buildings constructed in the Arts and Sciences Park, opened in 2005 by Queen Sofia. Designed again by Santiago Calatrava, it is the tallest Opera House in the World with 14 stories, although from this level on the terrace the scale is hard to gauge.

For whatever reason this cavernous underground space seemed like it should be the stage for an epic rock opera. Lower Randolph and Columbus, Chicago, Illinois.

This is a replica of the original Canmore Opera House which was built in 1898 with logs cut from the slopes of Ha-Ling. The original is now in Calgary''s Heritage Park.

The smoke is finally clearing so that we can see Canmore's iconic Three Sisters in the background.

The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and colloquially described as The Giant Egg, is an arts centre containing an opera house in Beijing, People's Republic of China. The Centre, an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake, seats 5,452 people in three halls and is almost 12,000 m² in size. It was designed by French architect Paul Andreu. Construction started in December 2001 and the inaugural concert was held in December 2007.

I originally posted this photo 3 years ago, I thought it was good then and think it's worth a second look since I'll not be posting photos for the next three or four weeks.

Without a ticket I was not permitted beyond this point as there was a ballet in progress. Stairs and entrances to the theatre.
