The Lyon opera house, built in 1831, was completely restructured and enlarged between 1989 and 1993 by the architect Jean Nouvel.
Chinese opera is one of the oldest dramatic art forms in the world. These traveling troupes are preserving an essential cornerstone of culture and heritage dating to the seventh-century Tang Dynasty (618 to 907). The performance mixes martial arts elements, singing, and dancing, accompanied by music played on traditional Chinese instruments.
Performances are free — shrines around the country pay the troupes. The best chance to catch a show is around major holidays and festivals like Chinese New Year and the vegetarian festival. © Dennis Thern
There has been a a lot of blogging and pictures from the new Opera in Oslo on several blogs and sites all over the world. Here comes another one. I am not sure if this is better than other pictures, but I felt it was kind of interesting.

This Opera House once hosted first run Broadway Plays in Pocahontas, Virginia. Built in the late eighteen hundreds it was later used for High School programs and currently is one of the best preserved historic buildings in the town.

i can't remember for the life of me what's in a classic opera torte, but here's one i made. the ganache on top could have been less bubbly, but it sure was shiny. the upper right corner got bashed in when a certain person in my class pushed a kitchenaid bowl into it.
