For "Looking close... on Friday!" the theme: "Bokeh Only".
I had fun playing with this theme... trying to make a photo of my little elephant made of blue and white beads standing on shiny green paper, both in bokeh.
This is the result, not completely satisfied though.
I wish I had had a Helios lens for this challenge (really love that bokeh, it gives), but I haven't... I guess that's life, isn't it?......dealing with what you got and still be happy and keep having dreams ;-))

A pair of Steel-blue Cricket Hunter Wasps circled my yard for several days. The only place they would stop was on the orange flowers of the Butterfly Weed.
They strongly resemble Blue Mud Dauber Wasps, which have a longer pedicel (the "stalk" that connects their thorax to their abdomen).
Butterfly Weed is a native plant species, and my favorite Michigan wildflower. Ironically, I have never seen a butterfly land on the flowers, although it does attract a variety of wasps and hornets.

I used to work with painting on glass, china, paper... I meant a creative job was always important to me.
In this new phase I feel the necessity of find some details to add to my photos. I'm discovering how amused is work with Photoshop, despite of doing only some things with it until now. So, sorry for the montages with questionable taste.
I wanted to photograph the Vienna Christmas Market in all its lit up glory, but work meeting ran late and only managed to make it there after everything had closed. Pesky work getting in the way of my photography - aarrgghh! So you get to see it after hrs...which is still pretty cool!

The Capelinhos lighthouse was inaugurated in 1903 and ceased to operate in 1957, when it was partially destroyed by the eruption of the Capelinhos Volcano, that started at sea, about 1200m from the lighthouse, but later moved closer, to just about 500m.
The building was hit by rocks (some with 300kg) and submerged in ash and cinders. Early in the 21st century an underground museum was built (Centro de Interpretação do Vulcão dos Capelinhos) and some works were undertaken to improve the stability of the building, creating conditions for it to be visited. Around it everything was destroyed by the eruption and people in the surrounding villages had to be evacuated.
The area you see to the right of the image is the result of the eruption. It didn’t exist in 1957. The eruption created an islet that kept growing during the 13months of volcanic activity and that finally connected through an isthmus to the Faial island.

This beautiful CANADIAN flew by me within a meter...the sound, the energy, the speed...the rush I felt was staggering...it was only for a few seconds...wow...and then it was gone..."STUNNING"...
For me this is the only criterion for a beautiful photograph :-)
