inside of my life stories journal for Kara's class. I'd like to say that another thing I'm LOVING about this class is that its helping me use up a lot of stuff I already had laying around. One of my new year's resolutions was to use up some old scrap stuff.
These are just about the first parts of my life. I wrote about how I'm blessed with a creative family that has always supported me. :]
(random paper scraps, staples, catalog page, lace snippet, gesso, Sharpie fine tip, graph paper)

I did a shoot with Kelby Training yesterday (04Aug) at Bourbon Street Night Club in New Port Richie as part of the upcoming Concert Photography online class and DVD hosted by Scott Diussa and Alan Hess. I was one of the pit photographers. We got to shoot two bands, including this one, Rise II Brutality, who play Death Metal. They really had a huge amount of energy and gave their all, even though they were just performing for 5 photographers and a video crew.
Now I started shooting concerts when I was at the University of Tennessee, where I majored in Drinking and minored in "Social Studies". My first published image was of a local band called Rhodes & Rhodes that appeared in the Knoxville News Sentinel. Since this was in the days before digital, the best we available to us for this low light work was TMAX 3200 black & white. For this reason I think I still gravitate to this look for my concert photography today. I'm really glad to be getting back into this again and hope I can do it more often between aviation gigs if for nothing else than to stay sharp.
My thanks to Scott, Alan, and my other fellow pit shooters, Brad Moore and Krysten Marlette and of course the guys at Kelby. Can't wait to see the finished product, and of course, more images to come.
Teaching kids now about computer technology and online classes will prepare them for what they will run into in the future, giving them a heads up and an advantage to online learning.

In order to prove that I really AM taking an online course, this is one of the recent projects I did for my photoshop class. We basically had to use filters and what not to create a "tourism poster". Please note, editing text in photoshop makes my skin crawl but it was addressed in the first lecture that Illustrator is where you should go for text and stuff. Our final project is creating a poster for a movie or tv show so I decided to do Flight of the Conchords.
At the last minute.
I'm never finishing this stupid class. I haven't even STARTED the web stuff yet because I keep dicking around with the photoshop class. GRRRRR.

I am a lost vessel at sea.
I am impatient.
I am a sinner.
I am restless.
I am conservative.
I am moody.
I am a storm cloud.

I am an invincible liner.
I am willing to wait for the good.
I am Forgiven.
I am content.
I am open minded.
I am willing to compromise.
I am good-hearted.
I am quirky.
I am a silver lining.
I am the subject of the photo. I used framing and deep contrast to draw in the attention of the viewer.
In Light Room I made the following changes:
Light
- slightly increased the exposure
- highlights all the way down
- shadows all the way up
- whites all the way down
- blacks all the way down
Color
- Temperature is +47
- Tint is 4,640
- Light blue Hue is all the way left
- Light blue Saturation is all the way left
Effects
- Vignette is all the way
I chose this as my example because I had this vision in my head for a while and this assignment allowed me to create it. To create contrast in my image I cranked the vignette. The mood I created was how I felt sometimes during online classes.
