Staff and volunteers at Harding Middle School distribute grade level workbooks along with free meals to students as schools are closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the recent announcement that DMPS will complete the 2019-20 school year through distance learning, staff has been handing out workbooks containing lessons consistent with the different subjects students would be working on during normal school hours. New workbooks are scheduled to be distributed every Monday at meal distribution sites.

The girls belong to one of the nation’s top all girls robotics teams called the Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies. In January the team won first place at the Intel Oregon FIRST LEGO League 2009 State Championship and will now represent Oregon at the US Open Robotics Championship in Dayton, Ohio in May. Connections Academy schools deliver a top-quality, personalized public education for students from the comfort of their homes that combines certified teachers; a proven, print-rich curriculum; technology tools; and community experiences. Certified teachers develop a Personalized Learning Plan for each student, deliver instruction, evaluate assignments, and work directly with the student via the phone and Internet. An adult Learning Coach monitors progress in the home.

Eleven months into the Russian war in Ukraine, recent attacks targeting civilian infrastructure have further complicated access to education. Families displaced from the conflict zone have switched to online learning, which is now disrupted by lack of access to power, internet access, and other basic utilities. Airborne attacks across the country mean that lessons are halted and students move underground for their protection on a daily basis.
