Undaunted by the presence of people, this lively bird sometimes will swoop down and pluck out a human hair to use for its nest. It is intelligent and may even learn to eat food out of a human hand. Adapted to wooded residential areas with large shade trees and to bird feeders and nesting boxes.

The grey francolin is a species of francolin found in the plains and drier parts of the Indian subcontinent. This species was formerly also called the grey partridge, not to be confused with the European grey partridge.
