Open Cattle Grazing is pretty common in rural Utah. This spot on the lake is a fence that is meant to keep cattle from crossing over.

When the light is right and the water is calm, it's magical.

I spotted this guy hanging out on a fence rail near a bird feeder. I wonder what he might have had in mind. I'm not sure what kind of hawk it is, but maybe someone can help.

Frost on a leaf. We are getting beautiful sunny days and clear cool nights. The frost is starting to accumulate anywhere that stays in the shade all day.

Thank you, your views, favs and comments are greatly appreciated!

Now on yet another of my 2019 trips to Bamburgh, this was the beach in the very early morning in September.

After an eventful morning, having woken at an unearthly hour, I wound my way through dark country roads, in the still night. After parking up, I made my way through the sand dunes towards the beach as the dim light of morning was just barely beginning to show, but emerging from them I was greeted with this glorious sky, and was filled with excitement waiting, camera in hand, for the rising of the sun.

The sand on this morning was so pristine, I had to be sure to take a shot of it, and as the light began to catch on the clouds this reflection was far too great an opportunity to miss.

This was taken near Boulders Beach on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa.

"Look at mother nature on the run . . . ."

Neil Young, "After the Goldrush"

Unprecedented wildfires in the western United States, severe flooding in the eastern United States, in Europe and Asia, severe drought worldwide, an uncontrollable viral pandemic, yet there is a majority of the population (especially in the US) that does not believe such things. So here we are.

There will be no "Flyin' mother nature's silver seed

To a new home in the sun".

Or, yellow on white on white! The yellow centre of a daisy ~ Bellis perennis on the white petals.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

This goose, along with its extended family, has overwintered here this year. They sure are hardy birds.

A warm thank you to all who view or comment on my images :) It's a joy to be a part of the Flickr community.

This hummingbird is perching on the Ant Moat, which protects the feeder from ants wanting the sweet water the hummingbirds drink. This hummingbird is really guarding against other hummingbirds, not the ants.

This image was captured in the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica on our trip last August. They are quite interesting to watch and if you ever have the opportunity to see them run it is amazing. They run so quickly that they can truly run on water thus getting the name "Jesus Christ Lizard". They are often seen a vibrant green color but as you can see this one is quite camouflaged !!

Wishing you an awesome Saturday and a blessed one too !!

Beautiful light show beaming on the falls, better late night. For the crowds in nutz

September began in our land with beautiful weather, on Wednesday I decided to use this fact and come a little in the mountains. At the beginning (along the trail from kuznice) I reached the Nosal peak 1206m amsl, the name comes from the shape of the mountain that resembles a nose. I took the photo at the very top, although the mountain is not very high, the views from it in my opinion are very beautiful.

Just in the last week or so the butterfly bush has started blossoming. I was very happy to see the monarch stop by! An added bonus with the small bee in flight, honing in on the fragrant blossoms. Patience was required with the blustery breezes blowing and the butterfly flitting between different blossoms.

This bush is in our yard so I look forward to seeing what other visitors might stop by!

Just back from a fabulous day with some of the FFF on the Waterfront at Geelong. A fun day with some nice images despite persistent rain showers!

Apart from watching birds and rabbits, the Dragon loves to observe the (human) neighbours. They seem to be a source of endless entertainment but the garden season is nearing its end and Tofu will soon have to return to watching videos on YouTube. :)

All I do every night is think about you

All I do every night is think of you

Are we lost or is this love that I'm feeling?

Your burning touch is something that keeps on healing

And we can talk about it, wake me up if I'm dreaming

Are we lost or is this love that I'm feeling?

You stay on my mind, on my mind every night

You stay on my mind, you're on my mind every night

Only us, nothing else that I'm needing

It's you I trust, the only one I believe in

And we can talk about it, wake me up if I'm dreaming

Are we lost or is this love that I'm feeling?

You stay on my mind, on my mind every night

While you stay on my mind, on my mind every night

Yeah, you stay on my mind, you stay on my mind every night

You stay on my mind

3. Last light on Monte Rosa

November 2022

90 × 60 cm, Alu-Dibond

Italiano

While the valley is already in shadow, the highest peaks of Monte Rosa are lit one last time by the setting sun. A moment of stillness above a landscape in constant motion.

The Grenzgletscher flows down from the Monte Rosa massif and connects with the Gorner Glacier, which has already almost vanished near the Gornersee (left in the image). This temporary meltwater lake appears in summer on the boundary between the two glaciers, as meltwater accumulates in a natural depression on the ice. When temperatures drop, the lake disappears again.

What makes the Gornersee remarkable is its sometimes sudden natural drainage. When the water level reaches a critical height, it carves its way through subglacial channels downhill toward the Vispa River. Such an event is known as a GLOF (Glacial Lake Outburst Flood), during which immense volumes of water can be released in a short time.

For glaciologists, the Gornersee is of great value. It provides insights into the hidden world beneath the ice: how meltwater moves, how subsurface drainage channels form, and what role climate change plays in these processes.

Smile on Saturday - ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day

Back to my Pentax.. From the beginning of the year I never managed to use my reflex except from some garden and out of the field nearby pictures now and then so I presume that iphonoeography will wait for a long time from now on couse I also do 2 weeks - from the 14th of July - of vacation in Sweden and hopefully I'll have lot of pentax pictures from there :d ). This is not exactly what I would like to post, it's pretty maybe but not a great picture IMMO (that foreground leaf do an awfully work distracting the main subject). I need something new a new place a new feeling and I really hope to achieve it in Sweden. So for some days normal pictures then vacation then we will see :D

The Falkirk Wheel is a unique boat lift in the world. It replaces a series of 11 locks linking the canals from Glasgow to Edinburgh. The Falkirk rotary lift has a diameter of 35 metres and lowers or raises ships to a height of 25 metres. A set of double doors allows the boat to enter on one side and to leave on the other side. The wheel turns the two caissons, each weighing 300 tonnes, while the gearing system keeps them perfectly horizontal.

(Jane Austen)

I took this photo from Santa Monica's Ocean Avenue which overlooks beach. Although it was December 25th, the day was warm and folks were out and about on the bike/walk path. We felt guilty enjoying this type of weather while the rest of the country was freezing.

On the higher mountains the first snow has fallen, but here around this meander of river the last colors of autumn are resisting. I think it deserved a photo.
