Great Blue Heron seemingly at rest, but ever on alert for passing prey.
Common and seasonally abundant near streams and larger bodies of standing water.
A shot from one morning that I spent watching two brothers tracking a female. At the time we left, they hadn't succeeded.

I really enjoy seeing the beautiful light of dawn. Retirement has allowed me the opportunity to experience some wonderful sunrises, like this one at Blue Heron Park on the east side of Windsor, Ontario. What I have noticed is how different the dawn light is between summer and winter.

An Eastern great egret (ardea alba modesta) prowling through a flooded rice paddy near Anuradhapura, in Sri Lanka - probably on the hunt for small fish or frogs.

This one was visiting on this day last year. This variety is normally found further north in the deserts, hence the brown colouring.
Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

This butterfly was spotted among the teasel, thistle, wild bergamot, milkweed and other wildflowers along a high-voltage power line running through the park.

I took these photos a few weeks back but they came in handy today :) Evie on the beach, exiting the sea, wet and off she trots lol. It was tricky for me to sequence these, but I like the result.
