I was able to use my AmExp Business Platinum Card to redeem a business class ticket for Oman Air with the 50% points rebate. Although this is the older Oman Air business class seat, it is still very spacious. Both food and services are pretty good (although they mess up my reservation with vegetarian dishes). At the airport, I headed to the Budget rental counter to pick up my car (Suzuki Grand Vitara). One thing I immediately noticed is that neither mobile internet nor Google Map work in Oman! Using the wi-fi at the airport, I somehow able to download an offline map which help me navigate to the hotel for the night – Sheraton Oman Hotel.

I got a little ram-pod suction cup mount for my 7 Plus and it works great, rock solid! Here's my normal set up for trips:
iPad Mini connected to Garmin GLO and Gaia GPS for offline maps
iPhone 7 Plus for music or google maps

We saw a sign that led to the Big Cedar Tree. we were discussing whether this is the same Big Cedar Tree on the other side of the 101. I commented that the only way to find out is to check it out ourselves.
The road went more and more remote, and there was no clear sign where we should head to. Thankfully my Google offline map took us to the spot. It was really in the middle of nowhere. And it was swamped with misquotes. The Cedar Tree was pretty big alright. But we weren’t sure if that’s the same cedar tree we saw the year before because we were in a hurry to escape from the misquotes.
Later I checked the GPS and confirmed this is a different Big Cedar Tree.
