Abandoned, sealed and forgotten military bunker. Thanks for the fun afternoon, Jon. (My first shoot with the new 60D, too.)
Totally dark space, natural and red LED, lime-gelled strobe.
I live in Shun Hing College in Jockey Village III, it is about 20 minute walk from main campus. I have a single bedroom and share a bathroom with the rest of the floor. It is a comfortable room with air conditioning, a desk and plenty of storage. The ceiling is pretty high which makes it feel larger. The walls are thin but the people on my floor are quiet. Additionally, it is away from major roads and street noise which make it easy to sleep and relax even in a big city.
I recently did a shoot for Integrated Pain Associates & the Central Texas Day Surgery Center in Killeen, TX. We were taking headshots of the staff and various facility photos. A friend of mine is building their new website so all the photos were taken for the site.
The interior photos were challenging trying to mix all the artificial and natural light - keeping them bright and inviting, but trying to avoid too many blowouts. I ended up blending a few exposures for these.

I thought I would start out the next 500 pictures with a load of color. Very well applied color, I might add.
Here, I feel, one gets a good feel for how the architects came to chose the forms they did. It is a positive continuation of the negative forms already found in the neighboring building, the 'Bundesverband d. Deutschen Industrie' by HG Winkler, 1968-71.
Certainly one way to respond to context, anyway.
all of the glass fins are moveable and can open and close....I am just not sure who controls that (user or computer).
George's Funhouse, or better known as the American Enka Company. This massive facility was most of our day as it took close to five hours, and that's just the exterior and the inside of one of two surviving buildings on site.
The jewel in the crown. Everything in this room is still switched on. All the cameras work and can be moved by the joystick. Even the tannoy system over the entire shopping centre works.
MKU3A photo group outing to Birmingham.
There always seems money available to build more offices, many of which seem to stand empty forever, but never enough to build affordable homes...Same old story.
Inside Goddard's Network Integration Center, where employees worked around-the-clock during every shuttle mission to guarantee constant, uninterrupted lines of communication for astronauts with Mission Control in Houston. NIC employees aided in this effort for the last time with the space shuttle during Atlantis's final landing on July 21, 2011.
