I had just come home from a long day, and was greeted by The Girl, bawling because Georgie was gone. Someone had left the sliding glass door open, and they couldn't find him in the house, so he must have gotten out. But, he's never wandered beyond the deck when he's escaped, and almost always comes when I call him. When neither of those were true, I was worried (though I hid it from The Girl). I was looking in the back yard again, under the deck, in the bushes, when happily, Hubs announced that he'd finally found the cat under our guest bed. Whew! Even though he was never truly lost, he got lots of attention from me that night. I should have known better - he knows he's got a good thing here. And so do we.

Tonight we went to a fundariser event (Woodland Wishes) for our school district. We didn't win any of our silent auction item bids, but we did win a live auction bid for an after hours party in the school gym for 25 kids (split with 3 other families). I was about to head out to buy groceries this morning, when I spotted this babe and his (her?) mama checking out our backyard. I'm pretty sure that they live in the woods behind our house. Luckily, my long lens was handy, and though I (of course) missed the ideal pose of the two of them together, this one was a pretty good second. Bambi here was checking out a squirrel under The Girl's slide. When the squirrel took off in a flurry of mulch, Bambi jumped back, if just for a moment, then resumed exploration of the land. Though this image was captured through my family room window, I was allowed to take a few other (not so clear) snaps on the other side of the glass as well.

September 15th, I joined a gym. I'm not getting on the scale. I'm not taking my measurements. The only numbers I'm tracking have to do with the weights I lift.
