Having commenced in Albury that morning due to trackwork in Victoria, the driver of ST24 negotiates the twists and turns at Ocean View, preparing to take his train down the steep grades of the Illawarra Mountain to Wollongong.
The first weekend in January saw NSW TrainLink XPT services diverted via Wollongong due to trackwork in the Sydney suburban area. This used to be a regular occurrence during such annual trackwork, although this proved to be uneconomical, with the XPT services being terminated at Goulburn in recent years, and passengers transferred to road coaches to Sydney.

My wife waits for the sunrise along Ocean View drive on the Park Loop Road in Acadia National Park in Maine.
If you enjoy rocky seascapes, I can't think of any place better than Acadia NP at dawn.
Dawn comes pretty early in Acadia but it's worth the effort to get up. The rocky shore is right next to the road. If you can walk, you can make it to this location. You'll want to take your time walking ans setting up as there are numerous large rocks and crevices that could twist an ankle if you are not careful.
This photo was taken at Collaroy in Sydney's Northern beaches. We went there to pick up a used lens.

Found another photo on the hard drive to play with. This one was taken last year during a hike on Mount Tamalpias just north of San Francisco. It was a great day with the wife and kids. I had forgotten how beautiful the view was that afternoon. I'm glad my wife took the time to stop and take this photo. She's good that way.

After attending the mandatory muster drill, I headed to the Oceanview Bar (a.k.a. Sunset Bar) on Deck 10 of the Celebrity Constellation to take in the views as we sailed away from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. I had previously organized an informal sail-away meet & mingle with fellow members from our Cruise Critic roll call, and they proved to be a very fun and friendly group. After returning to our cabin, I stepped out on our veranda to capture a couple more photos of the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood/Miami skyline as sunset transitioned into dusk. (It's a bit difficult to tell where Fort Lauderdale ends and Hollywood/Miami Beach/Miami begins, since all of the coastal cities feature high-rise buildings extending along the waterfront.)
