The Skylink 200 service operated by Lothian Buses commenced operation on the 23rd April 2017. This photograph was taken on the second day of operation. The new route links the airport with north Edinburgh. Late in 2017, the route was converted to double deck operation and the single deckers repainted into the Lothian standard colour scheme.

Victoria Harbour is one of the best harbours in the world, as it's deep and protected by mainland Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, giving it very calm waters and two access channels.

The building next to the cruise ship is a high-end shopping centre known as the Ocean Terminal.

Star Cruises is not related to Star Ferry.

According to Wikipedia, Star Cruises is the third largest cruise line in the world after Carnival Corporation and Royal Caribbean Cruises. Star Cruises dominates the Asia-Pacific market and is owned by Genting Hong Kong, who also owns 28% of the Norwegian Cruise Line. Star Pisces was built in 1990 and has gross tonnage of 40,000 tons.

I photographed this panorama stitched using five RAW captures on the 6D while riding the Star Ferry across the Victoria Harbour, so camera shake is a bit of an issue for some of the images. But I feel that it is important to have an image which shows the complete length of the ship.

If you zoom in closer on the right hand side near the helicopters, you will see some people hanging around closed to the deck. Those people are in fact not standing on the ship but photographers lining up to photograph this boat on the entire roof of 海運大廈 Ocean Terminal [1] where the USS Peleliu (LHA-5) was docked in Hong Kong.

The rows of architecture on the left are residential development in Union Square, West Kowloon [2] featuring many gigantic “feng shui holes” whereas the architecture to the right are commercial architecture in Tsim Sha Tsui which are part of the 海港城 Harbour City shopping mall complex.

During the lockdown, Lothian Buses were running limited services with some not running. All routes were run out of central garage, Livingston and Musselburgh depots only, using madder buses which have screens to protect the driver from attacks, which were at the time used to protect the drivers and public from contamination. Buses were drafted in from all depots and used for 2 weeks before deep cleaning, meaning unusual workings were seen. Only buses with long MOTs are used until staff can get back safely to do the MOTs.

During the 17th century , the Port of Greenock began as a fishing port for the herring trade and grew up throughout the 18th & 19th centuries to become a major British port and a global centre of Shipbuilding and also the departure point for emigrants leaving Britain.

Another big business was the Sugar Trade with over five companies importing sugar cane molasses from the Caribbean , with the most famous company being Tate & Lyle , who continued up until 1997 when the last 'sugar boat' docked at the Ocean Terminal on the 20th June 1997.

Clydeport can date itself back to 1966 when the three port authorities merged (Clyde Navigation Trust - Greenock Harbour Trust & Clyde Lighthouses Trust) to form the Clyde Port Authority and was subsequently 'privatised' in 1992 and soon after it was subject to a management buyout. Clydeport is now part of the much larger Peel Ports PLC and continues to attract many Ocean Liners throughout extended seasons , as well as Container Ships. Major plans are on the drawing board to further extend the port and to attract the Trans-Atlantic trade once again after a very long lull of many years.

HMY Britannia was the only ship in the Royal Navy always commanded by a Flag Officer.

Generally, it would have been a Rear Admiral, but in the case of the last Captain, a changed ensued and the vessel was commanded by Commodore, Anthony Morrow.

When Britannia was sailing the oceans, the Officer of the Watch was in charge, ably assisted by The Lookout and Signalman.

The Helmsman was on the deck below, in contact with the bridge by a metal voice pipe.

The Charthouse was to the rear of the bridge, where voyages were planned and plotted.

In its early years, the Cunard ocean liner 'Queen Elizabeth 2' is tied up alongside the renowned 'Ocean Terminal' in Southampton Harbour, England.

The QE2 was the successor to Cunard Line's 'RMS Queen Elizabeth', coming into use in 1969.

The Art Deco-style 'Ocean Terminal', 1,300 ft. long and completed in 1950, had luxurious modern reception rooms and its own railway platform to handle special boat trains from and to London: Shamefully it was demolished in the 1980's, after transatlantic liners had ceased and the cruise ship industry had not established itself. Ironically, it would have made a fabulous gateway for the many cruise ship passengers in the modern era.

See Sean's comment below re. the adjacent liner.

Image was taken by my parents on a boat tour of Southampton Harbour area in the early 1970's.

A final in my Queen Mary 2 collection as she sat in Southampton awaiting her passengers. A stunning tribute to ship building.

1069 is seen at one of the temporary bus stops currently serving Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre during the (stalled) tram works in front of the shopping mall. With further work taking place on Lindsay Road eastbound, the bus has arrived here via Melrose Drive and returns via Lindsay Road. The small Cruise Liner Terminal is just out of sight to the left. In future, trams heading to the end of the extended tramway at Newhaven ( a short distance away) will pass from right to left in this view. This image was taken on day 21 of the Coronavirus lockdown.

I went a bit crazy with the starbursts.......Anyway, more info about this tourist attraction can be found here.

The first of the 42 Volvo B8L/Alexander Dennis Enviro 400XLB vehicles made their debut in revenue service on 06 March 2019 with both 1063 and 1079 seen on Service 11. Here 1079 sits at Ocean Terminal ready to take an evening peak departure through the city to Morningside and eventually Hyvots Bank. Sit upstairs at the front of the 13.4 metre and 100 seater vehicle and feel for the driver on sharp turns in Newhaven and elsewhere. The picture also shows the new Lothian city branding for city routes and the centenary strapline. It’s 116 days from today until the actual anniversary on 01 July.
