This picture of the Hong Kong harbour was taken one beautiful autumn evening in November, 2016. The editing on March 8, 2019 changed the “date taken” incorrectly. But I no longer have the accurate date on my camera.
Weather has been a bit temperamental at the moment so not ventured very far but got this last night just before rain kicked in.
Only took two images before the gale force wind and rain set in. The front post looks a bit out of focus but was moving in the wind and water.
Got a lot of mono images coming soon as the weather has prevented much else but finally happy with my mono processing.
I had to clone out rain spots and a small modern platform / jetty that someone has put next to the pier which ruins the shot now.
Before anyone asks the person at the end of the pier is not a person but an Anthony Gormley statue.
Looking outside now might be back here tonight..
Leith lies to the north of Edinburgh on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth. It has been Edinburgh’s port since the settlement first required it, and has since served for freight, whaling, cruise liners and even briefly as an airport when flying boats used its waters in the 1940s.
Docked long aside the former hydraulic station on the Prince of Wales dock, which was built in the 1860s (the main building in view with the squat, square tower element), is the Royal Navy vessel, HMS Archer. Identified here by its pennant number, P264, it is the first and lead ship of the Archer or P2000 class of Fast Patrol and training vessels.
Today, the building is the headquarters of Forth Ports Limited, who are responsible for operating a number of strategically located ports around the UK.

Packing up my bags and going back to Edinburgh for a new job so really pleased with this.
Posted this shot of the pier before in landscape and decided to post this version as my office will be very close to this place.
Shame there is so much clutter in the distance as an open sea would be preferred. Always Photoshop though..
A study of a roof section of the Sydney Opera House.
The history of this incredible, beautiful building (inside as well as outside) is a fascinating read. Built from a discarded pencil sketch, even the Danish architect who designed it had no clue as to how to actually build it. What ensued was one of the most tortuous, overextended and over-budget construction jobs in history, which ended up getting paid off in one hit via nationwide lottery.
There was so much bad blood surrounding the architect that he was ultimately thrown off the project and disinvited from the opening ceremony. Still, the end result is one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world, instantly recognizable to hundreds of millions of people - a truly timeless design.
Less well known is that it is covered with what are basically Swedish bathroom tiles - 1,056,000 of them, distributed over 1.62 hectares of surface area.

Ocean Terminal is a passenger terminal servicing cruise ships and a huge shopping centre, located on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It overlooks Victoria Harbour and is one of the best vantage points to view Hong Kong Island Skyline

… it is not good photo as it shot through glass window with bad reflections, but I cannot resist to share the golden reflections …

Ocean Terminal Forecourt, Harbour City, Tsimshatsui
Legendary street artist Invader has made multiple undercover trips to our SAR and left his mark at various spots all across town during each visit. Many of his works can be seen in and around Harbour City, including the famous mural at the Ocean Terminal Forecourt, featuring the ghosts from Pac-Man in his signature retro video game style.
Was down at Ocean Terminal shopping and decided to visit this location.
Its a tricky place to shoot as has a lot of distractions especially on the horizon. There is an Anthony Gormley statue at the end of the pier but the the wide angle doesn't really show it..
Would like to revisit at sunset and try another take on this location, but will post a less cluttered version in portrait later on.
Home Sweet Home … back to TST. I can actually see our balcony at the top of K11 next to the Rosewood tower.

The Sydney Opera House sports a test image several days before the Vivid Sydney 2018 event opens. I was lucky to get this advance 'preview' shot late one evening as technicians were testing the high power DLP's (digital light projectors) across the harbour on the cruise ship terminal roof, about 450m to the west.
The Vivid show has been going on for the past 10 years. The complete light show must be fantastic, if this is just a test pattern. Those bathroom tiles on the opera house roof make for a really great projection screen! The biggest technical trick is in warping and merging images from a dozen or so projectors across the multiple curved roofs of the opera house to make the complete image appear seamlessly unifed. From what I saw, they did an amazing job of it.
Sadly, I could not stick around to see the real thing. It officially opens today (25 May 2018).
As you can read in this article, this show is a really big deal.

See also my sister photos 'Timeless' and 'Sails of Music' showing the roof of the Opera House, for further anecdotes about this amazing structure.
Sorry another from my flat but spotted the nice skies from the window and luckily had my tripod this time. Two images blended to bring out the foreground a bit more.
Quite liked the light trails of the cars too.

I do love my new Canon 16-35mm as allows to be slightly wider than my old 17-40mm and its quite a bit sharper in the edges.
This is the place that I keep coming to when don't have time to get anywhere else.
A great sunset and got an even better one a week later which I will share if you aren't bored of this place.
A tighter crop on this image than normal.
