I learnt to type when I was at school doing a Commerce course and my parents bought me this Brother portable manual typewriter.
My first job was in the typing pool at The Bank of England, so all the practicing of "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" came in handy (all those of a certain age will understand this!)
I removed the top cover to show the very clever engineering.
One of those things you hang on to although it is now obsolete.
I carried one of these for many years. The Palm Pilot was the name of the first generation of personal digital assistants manufactured by Palm Computing in 1996 (by then a division of U.S. Robotics). It was the first wildly popular handheld computer. Its success helped bridge the previously separate worlds of the electronic organizer, the PC, and later, the smart phone. The Palm Pilot succeeded by redefining the handheld as an accessory to the personal computer, not its replacement. While it was revolutionary in its time, offering a portable digital organizer and personal information management system, the Palm Pilot eventually became obsolete due to the rapid advancements in mobile technology. Manufacturing was discontinued in 2011.

Punched card
A punched card or punch card is a piece of stiff paper that can be used to contain digital data represented by the presence or absence of holes in predefined positions. Digital data can be used for data processing applications or, in earlier examples, used to directly control automated machinery.
Punched cards were widely used through much of the 20th century in the data processing industry, where specialized and increasingly complex unit record machines, organized into semiautomatic data processing systems, used punched cards for data input, output, and storage. Many early digital computers used punched cards, often prepared using keypunch machines, as the primary medium for input of both computer programs and data.
While punched cards are now obsolete as a storage medium, as of 2012, some voting machines still use punched cards to record votes. [Wikipedia]

I am only needing 1200 views to hit a million views of my photostream. I am honoured that so many people have viewed my Images and always made such gracious comments. I have been blocked by a couple of people and never understood what it was that offended them. I am sorry if I touched on something personal. I never mean to be hurtful. There is too much pain in the world already. A good spirit will always prevail.

Take my fountain pen and my photos ...
I have always loved small notebooks and photo prints.
I finally found the carnet to connect my desire to return to another time, more obsolete and similar to me.

In the British Isles, dead houses (also known as receiving vaults) became popular in the 1800s as a way to protect the deceased from body snatchers. In north America, they also served as temporary storage during the winter months, when frozen ground prevented the digging of graves.
Modern machinery solved the frozen ground problem and there isn't much demand for snatched bodies these days. So, dead houses have become obsolete and simply provide an architectural point of interest in old graveyards.
Someone was once asked if they wished to be buried or cremated. "Surprise me", was the response. That would be a very unpleasant surprise. But even worse is the thought of awaking in eternity without having made preparations to do so.
The Bible makes it clear: there is one life, one afterlife and one judgement.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
(Hebrews 9:27-28)
