What's the difference between a piano and a fish?

You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish.

Phone addiction is the obsessive use of a smartphone. The behavioral addiction is often dubbed as “nomophobia,” or the fear of being without a mobile device. 67% of smartphone owners have admitted to checking their phone for calls or messages when their phone didn’t vibrate or ring.1 This is one major sign of cell phone dependence and should serve as a warning to cell phone owners.

Withdrawal, when cell phone or network is unreachable.

Anger.

Tension.

Depression.

Irritability.

Restlessness.

There are over 3.8 billion smartphone users in the world as of December 2021.

This had a new wall built, with sort of a triple diamond pattern. The inverted look was just for some artsy fun. I like the way it silhouetted the equipment.

ever since i joined Flickr in 2004, favorites as been one of my favorite features of this site -- especially during Polaroid Weeks! and yes i am apparently a bit obsessive, but every time i filled in another 36 images (the format favorites used to be shown in), i made another mosaic tile -- and now there are 900 of them. hurrah for all your amazing work that fills them!!

If you like my word "rainting" I would appreciate it if you would go to Urban Dictionary and vote in the square for thumb's up. Even if it only got 5 or 10 thumb's up and no thumbs down, I would appreciate it. I don't think it has any certain amount it has to get to be in their dictionary. In fact, if I read it correctly, it already got approved and is in.

I don't like to put live links too often but here is a link you can use, I think. There is no prize either, just bragging rights to have a word I coined make it into a dictionary. ;o)

I found this on an old charm bracelet. I'm guessing at least 20 years old, and more likely 30 to 40 years old. Although I can't hear any noise, it seems like it has a tiny clapper and that it is some sort of little bell. Does anyone recognize the symbol and the type of little charm? Oh, at widest point it is about 7/8th inch across. Thanks.

NOTE to Myself: When it is spring or almost spring and the trees start to leaf out, go back near 30th & Main St. and see if I can tell what kind of tree this is.

I went back 071617 and took a pic what I believe is the same tree and I think it is a maple tree or maybe sweet gum. See tree post on 072917.I'm going to put both pics in my Comparison & Resemblance (album).

Barney isn't obsessive about fetching toys like many pet border collies are. He grew up believing that teenagers were his toys - to be herded, nipped and chased. Teenagers make for much more interesting, interactive targets than a ball does! Even squeaky balls don't squeak quite as enticingly as a teenage boy with a nipped nose... nor does it change direction so well, or do anything particularly surprising. I have managed to teach him the idea of playing with proper dog toys & certainly when we're at home, he really enjoys playing fetch, often asking me to play with him and getting quite intense about it - at least for short periods of time...

When we're outside though, Barney is usually busy exploring. The fields and hills where we walk are full of interesting things to investigate... just this week, we spotted our first grass snake near this field (well, it was the first time I've seen one - I suspect the dog has been aware of their presence for years!). When we play together, Barney generally prefers to improvise herding games, or I'll just find a pebble or something similar to throw. If I ever do bring a toy like a ball, I'm usually disappointed... He's often disinterested, or he'll want to chase it but then get distracted and/or bored and drop it in long grass somewhere.

However, I found a tennis ball under my bed today (I find them all over the place) and on a whim popped it in my bag before we set off for an afternoon outing to nearby Ox Hill. To my surprise, Barney decided he was in the mood to play fetch towards the end of the walk. It was quite a slow, gentle game - making sure he didn't hurt his hips by twisting/jumping etc but nevertheless, Barney actually brought the ball back to me... multiple times! I rather suspect he was partly playing along to humour me "Oh, you want to play with the ball do you? Go on then, as it's you - funny old human, I suppose I can do that for a while!" but he did seem to be enjoying himself too, bouncing about in the buttercups, squeaking the ball :)

This is artsy, done with hue & saturation, auto enhance, bright & contrast, stained glass technique and blinds technique. Best viewed large to see some of the little stained glass sections have little colors in them.

Sometimes my thoughts are obsessive, running through my head fast and furious, going round and round in an endless loop.

Am I obsessive about Megaliths and Prehistoric History? Yes. History of the Prehistoric is still being written. We may yet be back there again, for now we still use the roads that they gave to us. They built in a landscape with more options. They knew how to travel by land, river and sea. They found the best ways along fertile valleys. When we advanced in metal working and fortifications and in town and city and industrial life where we did not erase their markers we still built our roads to them. Their mounds and orthostats stood tall and we used them as navigation elements on our journeys. In Brittany just before the new roads came along with the modernising of the industrial lifestyle and over land communication potential, just before the roads were struck into the ground there are great records of the huge stones structures. Artist sent to quaint Brittany for the sea air and the superb rural lifestyle made great records of the large roadside ancient monuments. Then the road builders came along and used these piles of stones for the roads. The once proud hills of picked river stones were cast under the foot of man, the hoof of horse and the wheel of cart all within the new road. The central huge stones were left as Dolmens and yet some of the largest are still there. Atop the Carnac Tumulus stands the Chapel of Mont Saint-Michel and a cart track runs up to the building and the noted cross set on top. Wikipedia states of the Saint-Michel tumulus “a mound of earth and stones 125 metres (410 ft) long, 50 metres (160 ft) wide and 10 metres (33 ft) high.[1] [Hyperlink here and below also. The site linked has a different measurement listed as of today 1. 11. 2023.]

1 of 4 is made of two of the four pictures. One picture is just itself and two are themselves and also parts of the panorama. The ways we make and maintain past the stones if difficult to fathom at times. The stones either side of the road are not alone there are other site where modern roads go between the stones and sometimes where the road goes over the centre of the ancient monument. Some are too big to drive a road through so roundabouts, rotaries, gyratories and also circuits with houses built just on the far side of the stone circle such contemporary roads are constructed around Prehistoric sites.

I took this picture in what was then my neighborhood in February 2012. I made it painterly/artsy for February 2019 for lots of reasons, but mainly for Sliders Sunday group. I think the tree that was the main subject was/is a Blue Spruce, and the little ones are Douglas Fir.
