Some local wildflowers, arranged with the help of Photoshop into a bouquet. A Sliders Sunday submission, where over-processing is encouraged.

sent my DD the b&w picture of our tuxedo kitty which I sort of over processed - it’s next in the photostream. She’s a fan of enhancing, so sent me back the picture above with colors added. She’s ok with me posting this :)

HSS

This probably looks over processed but I wanted to bring out as much detail as I could as even the due drop on the gate crook should not be missed.. Also this is one of the most photographed scenes in the lake district so you must excuse me for wanting to make it look more to my taste.

Couldn't sleep, got up and saw the sunrise, took a photo and tried to over-process it.

Hopefully you like the result.

Thank you in advance for viewing, commenting and / or for adding this photo to your favorites.

...have a great weekend, stay safe and healthy!

PS: If you'd like to see the original image, you can find it in my photostream.

100x outdoor adventures #50

Another walk, another bee, more over-processing. I have to amuse myself somehow...

just one of those days. Thought I would be productive, but than the damm internet kept distracting me. I spend WAY to much time in front of a computer screen, but hey its generally work related.... ishh......

bit more photoshop than usual just wanted to practice a few skills, over processed it a bit but trying a new technique

First Explore Picture, thanks everyone for taking a look (:

With thanks to divantart for the god image. Which looks nothing like this version. You can see the cloud picture I startred with on my home page.

I've over processed this one and will, perhaps, go back someday and redo it if I think it's worthwhile. There's a lot of heat haze happening and I was trying out a technique I had heard of to try and work with it some. The old granary outside Pullman, Wa. You can tell from the color version that the fields were brown, not green when I took this.

A Sliders Sunday sumbission, where Over-processing is encouraged. A spiders web, decorated with raindrops, in front of a palm. Oh, and "twirled" in Photoshop Elements.

Dreams are most vivid close to dawn.....

Overexposed and perhaps over-processed, nonetheless I quite like this long exposure.

The second in a series of possibly two over-processed daisies. In fact? Over-processed daisy as this is the same one as before. I gluttoned my way through too many daisies a while ago and now I'm strictly rationed. Hence the dead-headed stalk.

Another murder-mystery?

#8105 these are real colors, not over processed

A submission to Sliders Sunday, where over-processing is encouraged. This is a spider, lit by the morning sun, with drops from overnight rain still on the web.

Used the golden reflections from a stream as a template for the sky.

A little over-processed (for my standards) but still like this one.

The over-processed version, trying to make it 'interesting' (i.e. kitsch ;)

I was not happy with my original process of this, in my opinion it was over saturated, over processed, too much contrast and clipped to the black point in some of the dark nebulous regions.

This time around and for my first time I used Pixinsight for Pre Processing, "Thanks to the guidance and one on one tutorials by Kim Quick"

I am not sure if I can say that it helped or improved this image but in the final analysis I have tried to keep the image looking as natural as possible and this is only my opinion which is not necessarily correct. .

Also known as IC405 and Caldwell 31, lying at a distance of approximately 1500 light years from us in the constellation Auriga this object is a combination of emission and reflection Nebulae.

Also visible towards the bottom centre in this image is IC410 known as The Tadpoles lying at a much further distance of 12,000 light years, this faint Emission Nebula is energized by the neighboring Star Cluster NGC1893, far left in the image is emission Nebula and open cluster often referred to as The Spider Nebula IC417 at 10,000 light years distant.

So, I bet you are wondering what this beautiful sunset has to do with the title. There is a fairly lengthy explaination. The shot was taken on Morro Strand Beach on the California Central Coast a couple of nights ago. The original is ~115 Mega Pixels, although I reduced the size for this post. If you do a search you will find hundreds of images posted of this sunset that night on places like Facebook, Flickr, etc. The 2 stands for the reflection formed by a high tide pond in the foreground producing a mirror-like image of the sunset - therefore, sunset X2. This is a pano stitched together from 7 images, however, I used my 32-bit HDR process which gives me more dynamic range without looking over processed. Since it was a pano, I could get about 160° of coverage without using an ultra wide lens. 2-7-32-160. Sometimes Morro Bay sunsets are so beautiful that I run our of titles to describe them. :-)

For smile on Saturday… hope it makes you smile.

Thank you for all views, comments and faves

Another early morning walk in the park and got this shot of one of the other small waterfalls. This is my second attempt at HDR. Trying to not make it look over-processed.

I'm going to try to post and run tonight - I have a reservation on our sofa booked with Lydia to sit down and watch a film (Anchorman). And I'm running late for my very important date.

Maybe I should try to bullet point what I want to say?

- Sorry about yesterday and all the moaning. I tihnk the reason I was on edge was because of the gig we had last night - I always get really edgy when we have gigs. But thanks to everyone for keeping my spirits up with their comments!

- The gig was pretty shit, we all turned up in bad moods and to be honest we hadn't prepared properly so it was a bit of a shambles at times. Plus it was quite quiet because of the weather and you can't really get into it properly when all you're playing to is the toilet door on the wall opposite you. Such is the glamorous life of a local covers band ha ha!

- Today has been much better. Slightly suffering from lack of sleep now but Joe and Ben have been so well behaved today and we took them to the seafront to watch some of the Motocross on the beach. Shame it was raining really. We got soaked but it was a load of fun and we all enjoyed ourselves. I took the camera but it was raining too much to risk taking it out of its case.

- I took ninety shots today to get an SP, tried a few different ideas out but I was drawn to this shot. I chucked a couple of textures on it and played around with the opacity and fill levels to get the effect I wanted.

Then, because I can't help but over-process my shots sometimes, I thought I'd play around and try to make some rain in Photoshop. And I quite like the overall effect, kind of like I'm staring out the window on a rainy day. If I'd thought about it I could've taken a shot actually looking out the window and this shot might have looked a bit more authentic. So if you don't think it looks real enough to be rain you could always consider it another texture instead.

Never mind. I quite like it for a change. It doesn't mean anything in particular but it does have some kind of latent meaning and/or symbolism to do with my day.

Well, it does to me, but unless you're me you won't get it. Which is a shame. But there you go.

For a look at how you're meant to create rain in Photoshop check out this shot by Stephen Poff - now that's how it's done!

And then this is how I did it - it does look a bit better larger

Wow. Now heres an old photo of mine taken back in 2017 i think? Its an old Beech from a local wood and sadly the tree is no longer there as it was cut down last year for some reason. Shame as it was a real beauty. This by no means a good image. its been horribly over processed, it wasnt even autumn lol. But I decided to post it as it shows my evolution as a landscape photographer over the years. I pulled this from my old back up hard drive from my old Imac as I am now using the drive as a temporary external drive for my new Mac mini, which I have to say is THE fastest thing i have seen since Usain Bolt! Really looking forward to using it to edit my photos as its going to be a real step up in my work flow over my old desktop PC.

An image from some weeks back that I've only just got around to (over) processing :-).

I will catch up very everyone soon.

Loving the new Sorry Asia skin, Lana. Even though I've probably over processed the living s$%t out of this image in places. I'd really recommend trying on a demo, it's gorgeous.

On a dry day you can walk around them but after one of the wettest winters ever, they were knee deep in water.

I was hoping for a still day here but mother nature had other ideas. We had been blown off Helvellyn earlier in the day and so came here for some respite. It was mildly better but even a 25s exposure couldn't flatten the water and there was no reflection to be had.

This sculpture by the artist Peter Randall-Page was commissioned by the National Trust in 1995 to celebrate it's founding 100 years earlier. It can be found in Calfclose Bay on the shore of Derwent water.

I admit to slightly over-processing this image, it's been through Lightroom, Luminar 4 and back through Lightroom to try and wring something of interest from the dull day we had.

I'm getting towards the bottom of the barrel now

........ must travel soon ................................................

I've recently started using Snapseed to process some of my images. It's not as versatile as Photoshop, but I like the immediacy of it and the interface on the iPad is, literally, very hands on and a pleasure to use.

Not everyone will be a fan of the over processed look, but I enjoy experimenting with a more impressionistic portrayal of some of my shots. This one, taken at twilight on Portstewart Strand, had a dreamy quality about it anyway, so Snapseed tempted me across to experiment once more.

This is a level 3 in camera HDR. The over processing has caused haloes on the horizon but my wife says she likes it like this!

BTTL photo walk Dec 2013 from the Aust Services.

These are a bit over processed to compensate for a grey, flat day.

when its not meant to be. This little sod perched on the flashes, on the hide in fact just about everywhere i didn't want him to but who cares it was great watching him. This was out of the proper flash coverage so a bit over processed but it is such a wonderful sight. looks like there is no option but to light this approach perch next time as its where he feels comfortable at the moment. What a wonderful night.

The lines have become more blurred by the day in regards to AI in photography. A number of photographers of late have done videos, talking about AI and photography. I for one have very mixed feelings about this technology and where it really leaves photographers.

On one hand, it could help sharpen an image that was blurred, but on the other hand, it could totally change the whole image to the point where you wouldn’t recognize it when you first photographed it!

We already have photographers that manipulate an image so much in the editing in post processing it doesn’t even look real or represent the scene it was originally taken. Over processing to the point where the original image is nowhere to be found.

I think those who use AI technology should expose that fact to the public, especially if it’s going to be sold as a photograph. I remember using Photoshop when I was younger to cut and paste parts of figures into my photographs, but then it was obvious, where today it’s completely hidden in a lot of cases.

I believe if you’re going to change an image with AI, it should be in no certain terms exposed to the public! I remember sometime ago, a major photographer was caught, manipulating his images with AI, and the backlash was swift! The sad part was that his photos were outstanding to begin with, so it didn’t make a lot of sense to fake the image!

Soon there won’t be any telltale signs that an image has been manipulated in AI, which leaves it up to the photographer to come forward. Jon L youtu.be/9seZjrY9Hl8

maven's note:To give the heads-up for those who are willing to submit their images for Spring Fling Contest, I have uploaded sample images below. You can submit any kind of subject that has a Spring in the air...

To increase your chance of having your image (s) Published in Digital Camera World, Outdoor Photography, you'll need to follow the below rules to qualify:

Major disqualifiers:

Chromatic aberration or CA: (see above) and purple fringing are two distortion effects that can affect photographs. Even though they are often confused with one another, they are partially different in both their causes and effects.

Chromatic aberration can be seen in photos as light colored purple halo around parts of a scene. Manufacturers try to correct it by designing specialized lens elements and coatings.

Since no lens is perfect, especially zoom lenses, chromatic aberration is likely to remain visible at some focal lengths and apertures. Superzoom lenses are often more prone to chromatic aberration at their extreme focal lengths because zoom lenses are optimized at intermediate focal lengths.

Purple fringing is caused primarily by the processing done to every image by digital camera processors. The processor doesn’t always know how to interpret dramatic color. Purple fringing is, yes, primarily purple but it can be magenta and other colors as well.

Other reasons to have your images declined are:

-Reason: Potential copyright / trademark / privacy issue with photo (could be: copyrighted art, visible logo, license plate number, etc)

-Reason: Image looks over processed, no details left

-Reason: Artifact Problems: Noise/Grain/Chromatic or other artifacts due to low light, blue or purple fringing, high ISO, over-sharpening or post processing techniques. Please view image at 100% prior to submission

-Reason: Low interest subject: Probably little demand/selling potential for this image. Try for more marketable shots.

-Reason: Blurry: Image is not very crisp or is blurred when viewed at full size.

-Reason: Snapshot composition: This image is more of a snapshot than a marketable stock image. Overall problems can include poor lighting, poor composition, non-interesting subject matter, etc.

Reason: We have enough of this subject already...sorry. More unique images will help your images stand out from the crowd.

So this one of my first attempts at astrophotography. I've had a few attempts before but the weather always had other plans. It was a great clear night and I saw a couple of shooting starts during my attempts which always make me smile. I have a lot to learn I think with the skills and techniques required I think my shutter speed was slightly too long at 25 seconds as trails started to appear even with the Samyang 14mm. Shutter speeds shouldn't be a problem next time as you can push the RAW files quite far it seems. Having said that I'll probably return to this shot in an hour and think it's far too over processed. I gave up eventually when my camera started frosting over however in hindsight I should have put the timer on some long shutter lengths to attempt to get some star trails whilst I got the zzz's in until morning!

For - Happy Slider Sunday - HSS!

An attempt at over-processing a picture - on purpose.

went biking with the lady,

brought us near the landing zone of Brussels Airport.

I was totally surprised when the plane flew over,

so grabbed my camera and took a few shots,

only to find out they were worthless.

So over processed one of the pics to make it work anyway

HSS !

It's not grain, it's spores.

Ok! Ok! My camera had a hissy fit and sulked because of the light, or lack of it.

And that amount of over-processing can only mean one thing....Happy Sliders Sunday :)

Can't wait for Steven Wilson at the Royal Albert Hall tonight, am going early to get some London shots, so I hope it stops raining!
