An important thing to remember is that even though pixel sizes keep getting smaller and smaller, the technology is advancing, so the smaller pixels are more efficient at collecting light. For instance, the Sony A7rII is back-illuminated which allows more photons to hit the sensor. Semiconductor technology is always advancing, so the brilliant engineers are always improving the signal/noise ratio. Far higher pixel counts, as well as better dynamic ranger, are thus not only possible, but the future!
Yes I have a Ph.D. in physics! I worked on phototranistors and photodiodes as well as an artificial retina for the blind. :)

ZooN is meer dan de som der delen. Met leden van bekende bands als The Devil's Blood, Astrosoniq en The Gathering in haar gelederen roept ZooN natuurlijk meteen bepaalde verwachtingen op, maar het album nodigt je juist uit om die direct aan de kant te zetten en zorgt dat je vol de muziek in duikt. De vijf bandleden slepen je mee in een soms buitenaardse sfeer waarin de jager gemakkelijk de prooi wordt. Dit is folk en country getinte rock - zwaar op de ziel, maar barmhartig voor de oren. Muziek met de verhalende stijl van de klassieke americana, maar met een twist en een experimentele groove.
ZooN werd in 2013 opgericht door Ron van Herpen, die met zijn mede-muzikanten geduldig de tijd nam om de eclectische invloeden tot de enige echte sound van ZooN te maken. Ron, gitarist van heavy psych-rock band Astrosoniq verkent hier persoonlijk onontgonnen muzikaal terrein. Een nieuw hoofdstuk in zijn muzikale leven. De finale op het zeven nummers tellende album is voorzien van de kenmerkende vocalen van Farida Lemouchi - Ron's voormalige bandlid van The Devil's Blood - die een unieke laag toevoegen aan het toch al rijk geschakeerde muzikale tapijt.
Deep zal worden uitgebracht door Lighttown Fidelity, een independent platenlabel uit Eindhoven, met wie de band hun gedrevenheid om de gebaande paden te verlaten en dingen op hun eigen manier te doen deelt.
"Darkness Falls" is alvast het eerste nummer dat we mogen horen en op zaterdag 19 december presenteert de band het album in volle glorie in de Groene Engel.
