Hello there! I hope all is well! Happy Tuesday my friends! I am here featuring Chez Moi with the Sassy Messy Futon which is new to the Tres Chic Event. It is texture change by hud. I liked the black color and went with it. I love black spaces and adding bold colors! This futon has some clothes and shoes thrown about it. It inspired me to decorate a closet or dressing room. Having clothes on a living room sofa for me would make my OCD go in overdrive. But it's fine in the closet. LOL This Futon can go in any space you choose though. Don't let my weird ways influence you! It would also look cute in a nice foyer entry. The animations in here are really nice and there is something for everyone. I always have to try out animations in furniture. You don't want something you and your guests will look crazy sitting on! LOL Full details are on the blog! Feel free to have a look! Thank you so much for the support and have a blessed day! xoxo <3333 Ebony

Saudi Arabia is one of a few countries in the world with double stack container traffic by railway. Between the King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam and the capitol Riyadh you can see several trains a day hauled by EMD SDL38, SDL50 and GT46 ACS on this about 550 km long line. The track and freight service were once owned and operated by the Saudi Railway Organization (SRO) and belong since last year to the SAR (Saudi Arabia Railways).

In the morning of November 18, 2021, loco 2033 (SDL38) and 4314 (GT46 ACS) crossed another container train at Shajah junction and are now running through the desert to Riyadh.

The spotted hyena is the most social of the Carnivora in that it has the largest group sizes and most complex social behaviors. Its social organization is unlike that of any other carnivore, bearing closer resemblance to that of cercopithecine primates (baboons and macaques) with respect to group-size, hierarchical structure, and frequency of social interaction among both kin and unrelated groupmates.

Cubs are born with soft, brownish black hair, and weigh 1.5 kg on average. Unique among carnivorous mammals, spotted hyenas are also born with their eyes open and with 6–7 mm long canine teeth and 4 mm long incisors. Also, cubs will attack each other shortly after birth. This is particularly apparent in same sexed litters and can result in the death of the weaker cub. – Wikipedia

Located on the National Mall, the Arts and Industries Building is the second-oldest Smithsonian building and was the first built solely for the display of the national collections. It was completed in 1881, just in time to host a presidential inaugural ball. After structural renovations, this national historic landmark reopened in early 2016 as an exclusive special events venue. The grand Victorian style façade invites guests into an expansive, light-filled interior, featuring four spacious halls and a soaring central rotunda. These large event spaces, available separately or together, serve as majestic settings for seated dinners, receptions and other daytime and evening special events. Evening events can also be enhanced by incorporating the adjoining Enid A. Haupt Garden. Corporations and organizations supporting the Smithsonian with a contribution may celebrate their gift by co-sponsoring a special event in this landmark building.

History

Oil City has a long history of library support. The concept of a library in our community began in 1864 when a group of citizens formed an organization called the Petroleum Institute. Aside from buying books for the public’s use, the group met weekly to listen to essays, music, readings and to debate.

The Institute reorganized in 1871 to form the Oil City Library Association. Many of the ideas were not widely supported by the general public and library service suffered due to serious economic problems.

Andrew Carnegie once said, “A library outranks any other thing a community can do to benefit its people. It is a never sailing spring in the desert.” Mr. Carnegie contributed an estimated 150 million dollars to about 2,800 libraries in the United States and Great Britain. Oil City was fortunate to be one of the recipients but the library has never received any other Carnegie monies.

The Organization of Cape Verdean Women (OMCV) in partnership with the Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG) and other partners announced on Sunday, March 7th in the City of Assomada, the main commemorative event of International Women's Day under the motto Djuntu na Paz, nu kombati violênsia na Cabo Verde (Together in Peace, in the fight against violence in Cape Verde).

The opening ceremony was co-chaired by His Excellency the Prime Minister, Jose Maria Neves and the UN System Resident Coordinator, Mrs. Petra Lantz and was also attended by the US Ambassador, Government representatives, and representatives of local municipalities, among others.

Celebrating International Women's Day we know that we join thousands of people around the world, to celebrate a date that marked the world 100 years ago. It is celebrated worldwide this year under the motto Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress for All.

At the same time, the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action is celebrated. In 1995 during the IV World Conference on Women, world leaders committed themselves to promote equality, development and peace to women around the world.

The Beijing Declaration remains as current as it was 15 years ago: as long as women are not liberated from poverty and injustice all the objectives for which we work – peace, security and sustainable development - will be threatened. There are several examples of progress, although gender stereotyping and discrimination based on gender persist in all cultures and communities.

The International Women's Day is an opportunity to make a critical review of the successes achieved over the past 15 years, which are not few, and to take stock on how to achieve what is missing.

In Cape Verde a lot has been done since the independence in favor of women, allowing to create a favorable environment for increased participation of women, and to contribute to the development of the country. Great results have been achieved with emphasis on education, health, and political participation of women over the last years. Highlighting at the government level, among the ministers, eight are women.

However, it cannot be said that women have achieved the same equality as men, to emphasize the important achievements in favor of women in Cape Verde and thereby stimulate and continue this struggle. Because social ills still persist, such as unemployment, extreme poverty which affects mostly female heads of households, and the violence against women, that are in flagrant contradiction with the promise contained in the Charter of the United Nations "to promote the social progress and better standards of life in a broader concept of freedom".

The consequences of the violence for women and girls as well as to their families, communities and societies are incalculable. Too often the crimes are unpunished and the criminals go free. In this context the States have the responsibility to protect women and punish their aggressors, ensuring a continuing improvement of judicial processes.

With increasing frequency, men manifest themselves against this blot in our society. It is not easy to change mentalities and habits that endure for generations. It is a task for all – individuals, organizations and governments. We should work together to declare, loud and clear at the highest level, that violence against women will not be tolerated, whatever form it takes, the context in which it occurs and the circumstances that surround it.

Recognizing this fact, the African Union at the Conference of 15-year review of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action that was celebrated in March 2010 in New York, launched the African Women's Decade 2010-2020, reaffirming the commitment assumed since the Dakar and Beijing conferences and the resolutions on gender equality and women empowerment taken by the Assembly of the African Union, to accelerate the achievement of results set out in the Millennium Development Goals.

The Dawn’s Raiders Guild is an old organization that has been acting in the shadows for centuries. They specialize in salvaging equipments and ship’s parts from space battlefields. They excel at analyzing archives and other sources to locate lost ships or artifacts. Throughout their history, they never associated to any other faction, but sold items and parts to all. What they didn’t sold, or decided to keep to themselves, they used to build a fleet of transport ships, tugs, and what they’d need for their work. But they also assembled larger combat vessels and fighters to protect themselves.

The Dawn didn’t supported the rebellion in their fight against the Galactic Empire, but a few Raiders either helped them recover some parts or sold them with a special discount. In the recent years, they feared to deal with the First Order and so completely avoided them or the Resistance. But when captain Zar Mioln received Lando Calrissian's call for help, he decided to join the battle and set course to Exegol with his ship: The Harvester.

The Harvester is an ancient Zenith-class cruiser that served in diplomatic mission during the Old Republic. It was salvaged by the Dawn’s Raiders Guild somewhere in an uncharted quadrant of the outer rim. It was in relatively good shape, except for the port side of its hangar bay that was completely destroyed. The Raiders repaired the ship, while increasing its hangar bay size, and adding various feature that would help them in their operations, like a larger bay opening and powerful tractor beam projectors.

Under captain Zar Mioln command, the Harvester carries a fleet of tugs and utilitary crafts used to tear down large ships’ wreckages. And to protect its operations, it can count on a squadron composed of reassembled starfighters or bombers parts, what the corellians would call Uglies, but in a far efficient and elegant way due to the skills and resources the Dawn’s engineers have access to.

Zar Mioln personal fighter is the Uterceptor, a salvaged U-Wing with Tie Interceptor wings mounted on the starboard side, and heavily armed. He leads a squadron composed of a few Z-Ceptors and X-Bombers.

My entry for the Assemble the Fleet contest.

Its been a while since I've posted any pictures of my (our) Lego building studio.

Last year, the room was completely renovated. Originally, the room was built as part of a house extension in 1985 to enclose a hot tub and shower. Since owning the house, we used the hot tub only a few years until we shut it down and converted the room into a playroom. The playroom then evolved into a family Lego studio. During this time, we built storage and work spaces around the hot tub. This of course resulted in inefficient use of space and inconvenient accessibility.

Finally, in 2018 we embarked on a much needed renovation. This involved removal of the hot tub and infrastructure, followed by new floor joists and framing. The shower was converted into a storage closet and the entire room received new tiled floor with under floor heating system.

Of the best attributes of this studio is abundant natural light emanating from large floor to ceiling windows and three overhead skylights. For nighttime use, the room is illuminated from ceiling mounted track lighting and a series of adjustable gooseneck LED worklights fitted along the entire length of the work spaces.

Lastly, a custom centre island was constructed from 2x Ikea Kalax storage units. The units were bolted together, a table top surface was installed (with bullnose edges) and heavy duty castor wheels were fitted to the bottom. This centre island not only incorporates integrated storage but serves as an immensely useful worksurface for staging models, sorting parts, or collaboration.

Storage and parts organization is a topic for another day. Suffice to say, we use Ikea Trofast drawers for bulk parts storage of major colours. We use wall mounted Kalax units (not shown) for less used colours, the island Kalax units store monochrome colour detail parts (e.g. slopes, round bricks, etc.), and finally the workspaces are completely surrounded by many 100's of small parts bins organized by part type and also colour if applicable. All storage is labelled using custom python software scripts which generate part thumbnails, part descriptions etc. and automatically lays out label graphics for a variety of Avery brand label sheets of different sizes.

It is a wonderful space to spend time being creative and having fun! Now I just need time to enjoy it!

Seen recently (Friday 13th, 2025) from the shoreline of Ten Mile Point, a rather puzzling encounter. A dozen or more sizeable yachts, mostly ones with black sails, were in a local race struggling to make progress in the almost still air. The biggest one, centre of the photo, dropped the foresail and stopped as a 'Spill Response' boat approached and came alongside it for a few minutes before re-positioning, as shown in the photo, for a few minutes and then headed off. The big yacht then pulled away to join the others. What was that all about?

'Spill Response' (Western Canada Marine Response Organization) is an industry-funded organization with boats stationed in key harbours throughout Canada's west coast, to deal quickly with marine spills and mitigate the impacts on B.C.'s coast.

Arnold Research Organization (ARO) designed and operated Arnold Center until 1980. My dad began working there in 1953 until he retired in early 90s. He is 98 1/2 and as sharp as ever. Here's a bit of history on AEDC / ARO:

Arnold AFB (Air Force Base) began as Camp Forrest, an Army training camp during WWII. Camp Forrest's training facilities included William Northern Field, used for training Army Air Force pilots. Camp Forrest was secured after the war by the new Air Force as the site for the Air Engineering Development Center in 1949, and named the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) in honor of General Henry "Hap" Arnold, one of the founding fathers of the US Air Force and a five-star general.

AEDC was created to be the primary jet and rocket development for the Air Force, and developed the premier flight, jet, rocket, and simulation testing in the world. The Jet Age of the 1950s and 1960s, and Space Race kept pushing the AEDC to expand their capabilities. [In the early 50s, my mom, dad, and father-in-law began working at the Center - the dads were engineers and my mom was a secretary for the Air Force Generals.] The AEDC was instrumental to the development of the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs, including testing space capsules, the Saturn V rocket upper stage engines. The main function of the AEDC was to test military aircraft and missiles. In the 1970s, systems for the Space Shuttle, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt, MX missile, Air-Launched Cruise Missile, and Global Positioning Satellite system were tested by the AEDC. Arnold's testing in more recent years has included systems of the Patriot Air Defense Missile, F-117A Nighthawk, and other vital defense systems. Source: www.arnoldafbhousing.com/history

One of my goals on the doll front for 2015 was improving the doll clothes storage system. I'll put that at about 75% success. It worked out best for the pukifee.

The first data on the history of organized salvage in the world refer to the China Chinkiang Association for Saving Lives, which was established in 1708 to rescue sailors in trouble. ... Other similar organizations were established in the early or late 1700s.

At the western gateway to the Bryant Park is the pink granite Josephine Shaw Lowell Memorial Fountain, designed by Charles Adams Platt and dedicated in 1912. This was the city's first public memorial dedicated to a woman. Lowell was a social worker and founder of the Charity Organization Society.

The moment that I saw the light develop on the summit of Milwaukee Peak, Broken Hand Peak and Crestone Needle above lower South Colony Lake and Upper South Colony Lake, I knew that it would be a winning scene. This valley holds such a special place in my heart - having formerly served on the board of Directors of Rocky Mountain Field Institute, the organization responsible for all of the trail and campsite work in this amazing area. Crestone Needle was obscured in the clouds like this all weekend and even the following day when we climbed it. Such a great weekend commemorated by a fantastic image.

It had rained all the whole night before and all day up until this point where we were able to take in the awesome beauty of the South Colony Basin, one of my favorite places on earth.

This composite image shows the superbubble DEM L50 (a.k.a. N186) located in the Large Magellanic Cloud about 160,000 light years from Earth. Superbubbles are found in regions where massive stars have formed in the last few million years. The massive stars produce intense radiation, expel matter at high speeds, and race through their evolution to explode as supernovas. The winds and supernova shock waves carve out huge cavities called superbubbles in the surrounding gas.

X-rays from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory are shown in pink and optical data from the Magellanic Cloud Emission Line Survey (MCELS) are colored in red, green and blue. The MCELS data were obtained with the University of Michigan's 0.9-meter Curtis Schmidt telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO). The shape of DEM L50 is approximately an ellipse, with a supernova remnant named SNR N186 D located on its northern edge.

Like another superbubble in the LMC, N44, DEM L50 gives off about 20 times more X-rays than expected from standard models for the evolution of superbubbles. A Chandra study published in 2011 showed that there are two extra sources of the bright X-ray emission: supernova shock waves striking the walls of the cavities, and hot material evaporating from the cavity walls.

The Chandra study of DEM L50 was published in the Astrophysical Journal in 2011 and was led by Anne Jaskot from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I bet many of you know about the organization called Invisible Children & this whole thing about Kony 2012. Well, I went into watching this video. At first, I thought it was just a really long boring stupid video. A video that I would eventually forget, but I was wrong. It's a video about these children in Africa that are being abducted overnight and being forced to be soldiers in Kony's army or "wives" for his officers. . This has been going on for 26 years and no one has done anything about it. Not many were even informed about this until now 2012. Over this long expansion of 26 years Kony and his army has abducted over 30,000 children, and displaced over 2.1 million. I just can't even imagine how someone could even do this for 26 years. This picture is for those "invisible children" because they truly are invisible. If this ever happened in the United States, the whole world would know. But guess what, we are the future of our world, and we can make a change by simply spreading the word. I encourage you to watch that video or pledge here. I somehow want to be the change for my world as it grows. I want my kids to feel like my generation did something important, and maybe by doing this you can do that. Our world can be a peaceful place, but it's our decisions that do that. I say we can make our world better and make Kony famous for being one of the world's worst criminals.

I hope you all enjoy this photo. This photo truly has meaning to it and I hope everyone can see that. I hope you all can feel for the children that are invisible when you look at this photo. Well, I hope this inspires. It's been so lovely here. Have a fantastic day everyone! :)
