I did a hike up this face last summer and found 1/2 way up it was not really for me. Got to the top and quickly decided "once" was more than enough.
I once again looked at the structure at the beginning of the antennae, because this springtail allowed it. Do you also see the small opening in ant.2, where possible fit in the structure of ant.1?

I stood on the road side for a long time imagining what this was like when it was busy with people. This whole area is so full of history, like the old coal mine nearby where there was an explosion that killed several people.
Once the sun was properly up and the mist and cloud began to burn off and roll away some lovely, golden light slowly, briefly took charge.
Well, my favourite season is all but over but I still have a ton of pics to go through. I can't believe this pic was taken way back in September. Seems so long ago. Hope you are not bored and are wishing for snow pics already - LOL!

Once again, this vagrant flycatcher has appeared in Newton County, GA. This is year 3 for me seeing it.
Cefn Cam in Cwm Camlan, Meirionydd, Cymru. A ruined holding in a wet upland valley drained of habitation.
Update: This remarkable hole in the south-east cliffs on Tasmania's east coast (Australia) was once a sea cave. It lost the back of the large cave to erosion from water in being literally carved out over millions of years. It was shot on an ecotour speed boat going down the coast.
It was also rumoured to be a smuggling base for would-be pirates, before a British fleet shut it down but more research shows this was rather a fanciful notion. Unlike that of Sarawak (Borneo), where my main focus is at the moment, sea pirates were common for many a day. and operated out of such places.

While WA-2 still makes the trip down to Augusta on a regular basis, it is now with a GP40 instead of one of the three GP9's that Pan AM used to own. ST 52 and 77, Pan Am's two heritage painted engines, are presumably on the Herber Valley Railroad that bought them from Pan Am. ST 72, which was also sold to them, is still out back of Waterville out of service in need of some work before being shipped off. Today, WA-2 will be dropping off cars at the old Scott Paper mill in Winslow before returning to Waterville.
