Okay enough snow!
I need to be reminded of warmer days.
Although, all our snow from this morning has already melted...
Okay, it was technically the evening. An evening where the park closed at five! I darted around Fantasyland as the guests were slowly making their way out and snapped like crazy.
Kingsburg, Ca.
Okay, I'm cheating, because you're only supposed to upload photos you've taken yourself. I could argue that I took the photo of the photo. But nevermind.
I'm enthralled by this image. It was taken around 1915, and is of K. Mizutani and his wife.
I came across this photo because I'm a recipient of a National Park Service grant that is being directed at creating a traveling exhibition relating to the Japanese imprisonment during WW II, and their subsequent return to the communities from which they were removed. This photo is not relevant to my grant project, (except that his descendants were removed and did come back to operate the store) but I have spent a lot of time just looking at it and being amazed.
This fellow came to Kingsburg in 1906 a couple of years after immigrating to the states from Japan. He did farm labor and worked immensely hard. At some point he was able to get a piece of property and actually built the store by himself at night when he wasn't employed in the fields. What ambition!
The image I believe was taken around 1915.
Just look at the man and his wife. She appears to be wearing some form of kimono (?) and he, while well-dressed, is wearing a sweater with threadbare elbows.
The range of products is astounding. "Fairy Soap," "Carnation Mush Wheat Flakes," pots, pans, shoes, shirts, alarm clocks, tins of all sorts of stuff. And it appears there is some sort of cold box in the back there. So much packed into such a small space.
Okay...a rarely seen photo of my family! :D BUT here is my son Justin with his co-star, Christina in the poster from "Prelude to a Kiss."! This is why we went to Kansas City...to see this play. AND it was truly amazing...the cast and crew were ALL awesome! SO was the director...Darren! Febe and I found some roses near the theatre to photograph...haha, no, we really did not pick one here for Justin...although it was tempting!
LOVE you, Justin!!!!! Ah...but you knew that! xoxox

© David K. Edwards. Well, the first use of "okay" was in 1839. For Ol Korrect. I can't help it. The writers of "Outlander" depict people in the mid-18th Century saying "okay." No way, José. I mention this painful anachronism because during the pandemic I have been binge-watching "Outlander." Dinna fash.
I am not mad.... I guess I will have to stay on this bunny slope for awhile - at least until everybuddy goes in cuz I really want to go to the Limpics now that I found these thingees - I guess they are skis better call them the right name or I won't impress the judges when I go.....
Maybe the most important questions in life aren't asked in alleys, but they're still questions and they still have to be asked. Right?
i dont know where the music comes from in my dreams buit it always happens under water...i hear the most beautiful music but i have never heard it outside of my mind before...it is so crazy....now how to get it out ?
Okay - so I had to go back and do a little editing. After my virtual trip to Singapore I decided I just couldn't resist! So here you have my all time best moon shot ever!
If only I had taken the camera with me to the grocery store tonight. I have never seen a more beautiful show of glory in the Heavens! Still a beautiful evening with the moon glowing brightly. Finished with my support calls to Singapore, Im a little late since it's an early morning tomorrow. I'll definitely catch up with everyone tomorrow. Have a lovely evening.
when i look back at all the times i had felt it was the end of the world, it just makess me laugh about how stupid i was. life doesn't end when all goes wrong, it ends when all hope is gone, when all give up.
this is for everyone who's dealing with something unbearable, something thats killing you inside.
but this goes out to one person in particular, just_makayla. i'm a great fan of yours and can never wait for another hilarious video. but you'r story touched me, and i've been praying for your grandmother since.
and the fights not over, stay stong..
Okay, I know this is a lousy photo. What got me was the foot in the air. A moment after I took this shot all the coots in the neighborhood came to watch the commotion. One of the fighters flew away. I can't swear which one it was, so I don't know who won.
