These two sea stacks are located off the Eysturoy coast which is part of the Faroe Islands.

They look very small compared to the Eiðiskollur cliff with its elevation of 352m. But in fact they have a height of 71m and 69m!!!

The name "Risin og Kellingin" means someting like "The Giant and the Hag" and is related to an old Faroese legend.

Happy 22nd anniversary of DLS / UBL and 168th birthday of INDIAN RAILWAYS .

Low sun giving patches of light under heavy clouds, "nordic light".

Selbusjøen (Selbu lake) is one of the largest lakes in central Norway. Technically the lake is a fjord that did not make it all the way to the ... eh ... fjord. But it has the typical U shape, although this is not so visible in this part of the "fjord", near its eastern end.

Around the corner to the right on the photo below, the lake has a much more fjordlike shape.

My favorite mountain Straumshornet (the left end of the ridge) with a layer of clouds half way between the top and the village Straumgjerde below.

Straumshornet is 974 m, the ridge behind slightly above 1000 m. The view from the top is breathtaking, almost scaring:

Fun Facts (in English):

City of Islands: Kristiansund is uniquely built on four main islands – Kirkelandet, Innlandet, Nordlandet, and Gomalandet – connected by bridges and a tunnel.

Clipfish Capital: The city played a central role in Norway's export of dried and salted cod (klippfisk), a tradition that dates back to the 18th century. You can still smell it in the air near the old piers!

Opera by the Sea: Kristiansund is known for hosting Norway's oldest opera festival – "Operaen i Kristiansund" – bringing world-class performances to this small coastal city.

Sundbåten Ferry: The city has one of the world’s oldest continuous public transport systems – the small passenger ferry "Sundbåten" – in operation since 1876!

Atlantic Road Nearby: Just a short drive away is the world-famous Atlantic Road (Atlanterhavsveien), known for its spectacular twists and turns along the ocean's edge.

NS 23Z arrives Park Manor with the #8114 which commemorates the original Norfolk Southern between Norfolk, Virginia and Charlotte, North Carolina. The train is running on the PRR (PFW&C) alignment of the Chicago Line. On the left is the NYC (LS&MS) right-of-way which was abandoned by Penn Central in 1972. In the distance are the LS&MS/PFW&C lift bridges over the Calumet River and the Skyway Toll Bridge.

Today I met Stan. He's a man with a huge desire to help men who are controled by substance abuse. He's a volunteer at a local treatment program where he counsels and teaches men what it means to move past their struggles and to forget about the past. He is #04 of my 100 strangers project.
